Gorgeous views, kind front staff. Comfortable beds.

Bathroom not cleaned properly. Hairs on the toilet. Stains between the top and lid. Hairs found elsewhere in the room. Gross.

Restaurant and bar do a great job. Nickie our server and bartender was very nice and skilled.

They would not give or email me a copy of my invoice. They said I would need to get it from bookings.com which I have never had to do with any other hotel/motel I’ve booked through booking.com

At a wedding there - service and food was excellent. Stayed overnight. Room was clean and view was amazing

I attended a writers retreat for educators with a friend, and the accommodations were lovely. There is a beautiful and expansive lobby lounge with a grand fireplace just outside of the restaurant area. We spent time there as part of a group and enjoyed the ambience while socializing. The rooms are comfortable, and the hotel sits right on the water with a beautiful view of the river. Looking forward to returning next year.

Overall, this is an excellent hotel, but if I had the choice, I would rate it at 4.5 stars. There were a few nits during our stay. Check in was fast and friendly - a shout out to Josh, who provided a room on the top floor with the open view over the Navesink. This hotel is all about the view and you want to be in one of the rooms across the hall from the elevators with the unobstructed water view over the marinas as shown in the photos. Open sky, water, sun, cormorants. The sleeping quarters were generally excellent. There was good space for ourselves and luggage. The bed lamps were a nice touch. The bed was comfortable, the linens nice, HVAC was not too noisy, and we did not hear sounds from neighboring guests except a mechanical sound when they opened their shades. We did catch some noise from down below, and I note another TripAdvisor reviewer has warned about the noise from receptions in the hotel lobby/Atrium area. There was a reception for the hotel's artist in residence on the day of our arrival and that was likely the source of the noise we heard. The bathroom was clean, and the waffled towels were among the best I have encountered in any hotel, at any price. But otherwise the bathroom is the weak point of the hotel, it definitely needs renovation. We shared a light meal in the Pearl, the hotel's restaurant, still full from a Talercio's lunch. The house salad was excellent, and a plate of crab cakes with roasted vegetables and scalloped potatoes was perfectly cooked. The crab cakes were too bready - I'd eat at Pearl again but order something else. Glasses of wine were on point. Service was good. The next morning we ordered a room service coffee which arrived in a large pot and without any service charges added on the bill- just tip your server generously. If you're willing to get out of bed, the hotel offers morning coffee and muffins at no extra charge. If you want to use a pool the hotel has access to the pool at the Molly Pitcher, which was closed during our stay. We did visit the hotel to check it out and the pool area looks quite inviting. I think the electronic systems in the hotel need an update. There was no dial tone on our room phone - I rang room service on my mobile, the safe had power but would not lock, and the picture on the tv was intermittent. Finally the electronic key system locked us out before check out time at 11, even though we had previously requested and received permission for a later check out. None of these nits would dissuade me from staying here - the room was clean and comfortable and the magnificent view makes up for a lot of minor annoyances. Hoping they'll be fixed if we return.
