The Potato Storage

There wasn’t anything we didn’t like. The location was fantastic and the owners were even better. They responded quickly to any inquiries we had before our arrival. They recently opened up a small pub next door and it was nice to have a beverage and spend some time talking with the owners about Iceland and the local area.

Tolle Übernachtungsmöglichkeiten in der Nähe der großen Gletscher Islands. Die Appartments haben alles, was das Herz begehrt. Sehr zu empfehlen. Klaus ist sogar bereit während seines Reykjavik Aufenthaltes ein im Appartment vergessenen Gegenstand mitzunehmen und zentral für uns zu deponieren.

Du fait de la configuration, le cottage regroupe 5 studios/appartement, des personnes peuvent passer devant la fenêtre.

Nice location close to the hiking trails

There was a lot of hair left over from another guest in the bed, bathroom and kitchen so the cleaning is very poor. The bathroom has a very poor ventilation system so smells are hard to get out

My stay at the Potato Storage could not have been better. The apartment is simply very nice, and has all it needs - and everything worked. Kitchen is small but well equipped. Good separation of waste and so nice for a change that it comes with clear instructions - many hosts leave you to guess not realising that the separation is really different all over the world :) The location is adjacent to one of THE most amazing parts of Iceland - especially for mountaineers! But also if you are just there to visit Skaftafell or any of the other many amazing places out there, it's located ideally. Let me keep the best for the last: your hosts, Regina, Klaus and Styrmir are warm and helpful people - just ask them for help if you need it and they'll be happy to support! One piece of advice: weather in Iceland can vary from absolutely great to beyond horrible, and it certainly applies to this area. So bring appropriate warm and rain clothes and footwear. Iceland is just not sneaker country, unless you stick to your car and the bar - and then you'll miss the best of the country :)

Nothing at all. Oh this is not a dislike, but unless you want to spend a fortune in the local restaurant options (not too many ...), if you are here for more nights, bring enough cooking ingredients from Höfn or Selfoss (last chance from Selfoss: Kirkjubaejarklaustur - that's a smallish supermarket and expensive). In the Skaftafell area there is only a minimarket at the local petrol station (which also has nice burgers), but it's a small selection they have. The kitchen in the apartment has everything you need to cook simple meals!
