The Mews Hotel

The food is exceptional. The staff friendly. For us visiting family locally it is our go to pub/hotel.

The twin room was small and the stairs were not suitable for my elderly mother. The lack of heating on a cold May day made it feel a bit Spartan.

I love the location, the comfort and the cosy rooms. The food on an evening is second to none. It is absolutely superb. The staff are amazing. Always polite and helpful.

I feel that because the standard of the evening meals are very high and it is known for its good food. I think Breakfast could have more to offer in the morning. Like fresh granola or muesli. Fruit and low fat yoghurt and pastries, meats. I have stayed many times but feel there is not enough on offer for me in the morning so being my own.

We chose the Mews for it's proximity for an overnight family visit, plus we have stayed there before. We were very happy with both the room/facilities and bathroom facilities, although we are used to a King size bed rather than double. The staff were very welcoming and although we didn't dine, we did enjoy an evening drink in the cosy traditional bar. Breakfast was a limited choice, but there was still plenty to choose from. Breakfast sandwiches were offered rather than the'full English' option, but they were tasty nonetheless and we were happy enough. My one ask for next time is please improve the coffee, it was far too strong and bitter!

Having visited here several times we were not disappointed. A warm welcome awaits everyone who visits here. We were given the room we requested which was a bonus as this meant we had access to the garden. It is animal friendly and all the staff are delightful. The food is amazing but would recommend booking before hand as it is extremely popular with locals and guests alike. It is not very big, it is cosy and intimate with numerous original furnishings. There is also a function room available. As on previous visits the rooms are clean and fresh, the noise level is very low and are great value for money. The location is just a 5 minute walk to the town where there is a selection of places to eat and drink. For dog lovers there is a field off of the car park to give your furry friends exercise.
