Poggio del Gallo

We loved this place. Christina and Davide are great hosts. Davide is a chef and cooked us dinner one evening (for a price) and Christina gave us an olive oil tasting of the olives they grow. Both were delicious. We asked them to join us for dinner and we had a nice evening with them. We loved the location in the country. It was also very convenient to Ragusa and local wineries. Davide set us up with a nice tasting and lunch at one of the local wineries. The rooms are good size, modern, comfortable and clean. We are dog lovers and loved the company of all their pups.

Pogo del Gallo is the perfect place for a quiet relaxing stay in the countryside with fantastic food. Cristina and Davide are lovely, there are only two guest rooms and Davide has a professional kitchen where he can cook you a really top notch four course meal. His cooking was so good we ended up eating there every night! Breakfast is also delicious including excellent apricots from their garden. We enjoyed having their friendly dogs around but perhaps not the place for someone who does not like dogs.

Davide prepared absolutely delicious 4- course dinners for us, which were simply a dream. Cristina’s breakfast was fantastic, with several kinds of cheese, fresh fruit, freshly made fruit juice, croissants, delicious cappuccino… Both treated us like old friends. They also took us to the local olive mill so we could watch the fascinating process of olive oil making. The location is calm and relaxing - in the countryside, only the sound of cicadas. There are also some lovely dogs.

I regretted that we didn’t stay longer.

Cristina and Davide were wonderful hosts. They were welcoming and accommodating. We had a wonderful time. The place is very comfortable and really feels like you're at home. Davide is a wonderful chef and we had an opportunity to eat dinner on the property. Wonderful! Breakfast was ample and extremely fresh every day. Their dogs were super friendly and sweet. The rooms were very comfortable, plenty of closet space and also removed from the rest of the space in the room, which is helpful when you have luggage! Great bathroom!

The hosts were very warm and caring and they treated me like family. They went the extra mile to help me get to my destinations given I had no means of transportation. Davide is an excellent chef and wish I had more opportunity to sample his cilinary skills. The place also offers the possibility of visiting wellness treatments in the comfort of your roomn or cooking classes with a selection of different menus. The grounds are extremely well groomed and kept pristine to feast your eyes and offer the possibilty of long walks or simply relaxing in the beauty all around you.

A coffee machine or a kettle in my room is the only thing that was missing especially if you are spending some relaxing time reading in the terrace outside your room.

Eveything ! It was a quiet heaven ! It just felt like home !

Everything was perfect. The pool, the view, the dogs, the breakfast and dinner service were all amazing. Cristina and Davide were excellent hosts and gave us wonderful recommendations for the rest of our Sicilian trip. Would highly recommend to anyone who is considering staying the area and would love to visit again in the future.

The dogs barked a little at night so if you’re a light sleeper I’d recommend bringing ear plugs.
