AWA Cefalù Umberto I

A large, smart and well equipped modern apartment on the second floor of an historic building close to the old town in Cefalu. Access arrangements are via codes and key safe so we never met the owners but they were in touch by Whats App. Parking in Cefalu is tricky and in the end we left the car in the station car park for the night which is a 10 minute walk. The apartment location is really good for sightseeing however being just on the edge of the old town. This is a huge apartment with all 'mod cons' and feels very newly renovated. We only stayed for one night so weren't able to avail ourselves of the sauna located next to the huge bed (!) but the bathroom is very smart with an enormous walk in shower. There are restaurants just outside the front door should you be feeling lazy ( including one at leat open for breakfast) and the old town is lively. We enjoyed our stay!

There is an adjoining apartment accessed by the same door out on to the second floor landing. It wasn't occupied during our stay but we wondered whether there might be some noise coming and going outside the inner door when it was. This is not a big deal however! As noted above parking is a challenge and will most likely involve dragging luggage for a few minutes, and up two flights of stairs.

Flat was good size and central

Bed was not very comfortable. Pillows of poor quality and the cover was very thin. It was cold at night. Could have done with a duvet. Fridge was noisy on and off during the night. Kitchen poorly equipped. Only plastic glasses in a not very clean cupboard. Didn’t help that there was only cold water on our last day.

Beautiful, tasteful, central apartment that looks just like the pictures if not better! Before arrival we received a WhatsApp message with thorough information regarding the place/our stay including key retrieval - super easy. The place is well designed and furnished; comfortable bed, large shower (rusty and calcified shower heads need improvement), huge TV, maintained and clean sauna,… even though you’re in the center with restaurants right outside the house it is very quiet inside the apartment. We enjoyed our stay a lot and would love to stay there again next time visiting Cefalu.

Bathroom needs a little improvement regarding shower heads and caulking in the shower.

No breakfast. Location - perfect for going to the beach and wandering through the old part.

Be prepared for poorly lit stairs - all 58 of them to the room, and for the loud partying on the Main Street into the night.
