Great pub. Would definitely come back again.

Food was abysmal, reheatedl and overcooked. This may have been due to the rugby menu or just unlucky.

The quintessential English experience. The rooms were comfortable, the pub was full of lively characters and the ambiance was top notch. Parking was...complicated, but so it was everywhere. I recommend finding a parking spot and then not moving your vehicle again. Everything is walkable, as long as you don't mind stairs.

I stayed here when hiking the SW coast path. As I was travelling alone I rate a friendly welcome right at the top of my priorities and this place really stepped up. I felt right at home from the moment I walked into the bar to the moment I left after breakfast. I chose it partly for the central location and that didn’t disappoint; quirky back streets that were fun to explore, and just above the town with amazing views. My room was comfortable and the bathroom was lovely.

I booked a room that had a shared bathroom. I hadn’t given that much thought at the time but when I got there I was relieved not to be sharing it as the adjoining room was empty, so if I was to stay again I’d prefer to have an en-suite. It’s not a criticism of the property though as it’s clearly advertised .
