"A Week in Paradise 🤙🏽🌺"

10.0

Our stay at the The Royal Hawaiian was amazing! The ocean view is absolutely beautiful, and the entire atmosphere is filled with kindness. A special shout out to our housekeeper, Elsa. We stayed on the 11th floor room 1106. She was the best! So kind, always greeting us by name, and made our stay feel extra special. The luau was a great experience with a variety of food and cultural insight, and the location is perfect. It's right on the beach with plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. Highly recommend! 🌺

"Historical Hotel with great rooms, food and staff that took care of you."

10.0

We had a very nice corner room, for our 40th wedding anniversary. We could see the ocean from one of the windows and the staff were very friendly and helpful.

"Formal Complaint Regarding Poolside Incident and Guest Service Experience"

2.0

Dear Royal Hawaiian Guest Services, I am writing to formally express my disappointment and frustration regarding the way my family was treated at the pool today. My wife and mother-in-law were seated in public lounge chairs at the pool beginning around 8:00 a.m. Later in the day, an employee by the name of John approached them in a rude and confrontational manner, told them they could not remain in those seats, and began picking up their personal belongings and throwing them at my wife while stating that they needed to move because the chairs had been paid for. That level of behavior is completely unacceptable, especially at a property like the Royal Hawaiian, where hospitality, professionalism, and guest experience should be held to a much higher standard. If there was truly an issue with the seating, it should have been handled respectfully and professionally. Instead, my family was treated with disrespect and unnecessary aggression in a way that was both uncomfortable and embarrassing. After this incident, I personally walked over to the towel service to clarify the situation and was informed that the chairs in question were not for rent and were in fact first come, first serve. That response raises serious concerns about why my family was singled out and removed in the first place. Quite frankly, it left me questioning whether John is acting outside the bounds of proper hotel policy. To make matters worse, I then sat and watched a nearly identical situation unfold with an older couple who attempted to sit in those same chairs. When they asked the same questions at the towel station, they were reportedly told that the guest renting the nearby cabanas is “just a jerk” and that he “comes here all the time.” If that is true, then it is even more troubling that hotel staff would permit other guests to be mistreated or displaced simply to accommodate repeated inappropriate behavior. My family and I have chosen to stay at the Royal Hawaiian for several years because of the hospitality, service, and relaxing environment your property has consistently offered. However, this incident has caused me to seriously reconsider whether we will return in the future. We also currently have a cabana rental scheduled for tomorrow, and after today’s experience, we are reconsidering that reservation. It is difficult to move forward with plans to continue spending at the property when my family has just been subjected to this type of treatment. We still have another week remaining on our trip, and I would expect this matter to be addressed promptly and appropriately. At a minimum, I expect a formal review of John’s conduct and assurance that this type of behavior will not continue at your establishment. No guest should be treated this way. I would appreciate a response from management regarding how this matter will be handled.

"One of the best experiences at a Marriott Property"

10.0

From the start to finish of our five day stay at the Royal Hawaiian it was amazing. We had Makayo (I hope I spelled it correctly) greet us at the front desk and complimentary upgrade our room after mentioning it was my first time in Hawaii here for my birthday with my parents! She was so incredibly kind and helpful. The check in was seamless and left such a good impression on all of us. Later, after our first day we met Esther the housekeeper. Esther greeted us by name every morning and took time to speak to us and get to know us and our plans. Esther made the stay a million times better! She was so sweet and warm. We had to give her a hug on our last day lol. I work front desk at a Marriott here in California and I can only hope we leave our guests with the same feelings as Royal Hawaiian has given me. I love this property so much as do my parents. This is the only place we will stay when visiting Hawaii. The service, food, ambiance and people at this property have surpassed and exceeded my every expectation. Thank you so much for an unforgettable birthday!

"Lovely stay in paradise."

10.0

We love the location of this hotel and the historic charm, the service is friendly as well. A special shout out to Louise at the front desk, she was so kind and helpful at check in and worked hard to find me the upgrade I was looking for. We stay in the tower with a sunset view. We enjoyed the discount on breakfast with Marriott status, it is lovely to eat early in the morning and to look at Diamond Head and the beach. Thanks Royal Hawaiian for another great stay and special thanks to Louise at the front desk for her wonderful service at check in.

"Wonderful stay, perfect location cannot wait to return."

9.0

The location and character of the property was perfect. Every space was spacious which felt very grand.

The room lighting was very poor, however, the large windows made up for the lack of daylight in the room. The staff serving breakfast do not write down your food request so there is alot of returns to kitchen. That said the food is lovely and sitting on the deck is a wonderful place to enjoy your breakfast. These are only comments and not to defer from a lovely experience at this special hotel.

"Royal Hawaiian not worth it"

2.0

My wife and I have stayed here many times dating back to 2003. Today we checked in and received an upgrade. That was nice but this hotel has no coffee in the room and it does not offer room service. Their cost savings has now made us think this is no longer a luxury hotel it’s not worth the money if you can’t get up relax and have a cup of coffee.
