I had the best massage ever! Max the massage therapist was excellent! Just the right pressure and very unique techniques at softening my muscle tension and stress. He was also very friendly but respectful of a quiet relaxing atmosphere. Again, I thoroughly enjoyed my massage and recommend Max and the Bamford Spa at 1 Hotel Hanalei Bay.

The property is beautiful (we went to check it out for our wedding venue in October), but our experience planning a wedding here has been deeply frustrating and exhausting. The biggest issue has been the pricing structure, which felt opaque, heavily layered, and difficult to justify. We were quoted package price of $350 per person which includes two "pre-selected" entree options, BUT they charge an additional $45 per person “tableside selection” fee even though we are collecting entrée choices in advance, plus another $50 per person if we wanted a different fish instead of salmon, with that fee applied to ALL guests. It would end up $18,000 for only 30 people ($600 per person). Even our planner said this is NOT industry standard. When we asked them about the price before we signed, they said estimate food&drink would be around 10k plus tax and service fees. Now it's end up $18,000. Communication made the process even worse. We were repeatedly told we would receive answers by certain dates, but those deadlines were often missed. For destination wedding planning, that creates unnecessary stress and undermines trust. If we had understood the pricing structure and communication issues at the outset, we likely would not have chosen this venue. But it is too late for that since we have paid the fee. My advice to any couple considering this venue for your big day, is to ask detailed questions, request every fee in writing, and carefully review how each charge is being justified before committing. And my honest advice? Save yourself the headache and look for a venue that is more transparent and flexible.

So amazing! Food was great, resort and beach is so beautiful. Snorkeling right in the bay area is amazing. The check in woman Dayna was extremely sweet and accommodating. Cannot wait to bring the rest of our family here.

I don’t ever leave reviews, but I just had possibly the best massage of my life with Wanda in the spa of this lovely hotel. I would highly recommend this wonderful hotel and outstanding spa.

I read reviews everyday up until my actual trip and some of them left me with anxiety being that we were spending a pretty penny. Thankfully, we still went and we had the best experience even before arrival. We had a major flight delay causing us to miss our first night. Our travel agent worked with them and we were not charged for this missed night. Imagine the anxiety we had having to pay so much and missing a night. They relieved a lot of stress with that simple gesture. Upon arrival, valet, the guy that checked us in and the bellman were all great. The bellman was super informative and gave us the grand reveal of our view. Literally breathtaking. Breakfast buffet was decent, would I have paid outright for it? Probably not but it was included in our package so it was good enough. Presented well. Want to compliment jimmy and moe for their exceptional service. We had jimmy one day and moe the next and jimmy made sure to tell moe that we “liked oat milk” and he brought it to us without us requesting. Same with the valet, did not get the guys names but we unfortunately got into an accident on the island and had to swap out rental cars and they asked us about it everyday after. We mostly stayed at the adult pool which we had no issue getting chairs at any day we tried. Downstairs wasn’t really our vibe being that we don’t have kids but the adults only area was great and the view cannot be beat. We are not super hard to please but as I mentioned I was nervous being that we were dropping a good bit of money on this but I absolutely feel like it was worth it for the views and service. We will be back.

The hotel is beautiful and peaceful, very relaxing. Food is fresh and clean. Personnel is very friendly and sweet. BUT the hotel shares public beach and many strangers from outside just walk in to premises without being checked by pool attendants. They swim in the pools and sit in hot tubs. Even concierge stated it’s a huge problem. I DO not recommend pregnant women and guests with suppressed immune system take their hot tubs and swim in the pools. It’s very dangerous. I personally got UTI and my husband skin rush from sitting in the hot tub once. Not a single manager returned my calls, after I tried to bring it up and file a complain. That tells it all.

Food was very average and over priced. Some of the staff was excellent while a good number were not engaged or interested. Need a higher level of consistent standard. Attention to detail could be better…
