Sheraton Addis, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Addis Ababa

The moment we arrived, the hostess greeted us and walked us to a table. However, it took almost 10 minutes before a server approached us. 1. Food Quality The buffet spread looked good, but the taste was very disappointing there was no real flavor. Furthermore, the buffet was not kept warm enough, which is especially important in this weather. I tried the shawarma, but it was overpowered with clove to the point where that was the only flavor we could taste. The desserts were equally underwhelming and not worth it. The sushi was dry and lacked flavor as well. 2. Service & Staff The staff’s performance was a nightmare. None of them seemed to have knowledge about the theme or the menu. We had to call out and wave repeatedly to get anyone’s attention. There was no knowledge about the beverages, and no visible management presence on the floor. It also appeared they were short-staffed. 3. Coffee Delay We requested coffee while we were still eating, but it took more than 30 minutes to be served—only after repeatedly asking multiple people. 4. Billing Process Finally, when we requested the bill, we had to wait another 30 minutes before receiving it. The most surprising part was after placing cash in the bill folder we waited an additional 15 minutes. I even saw a lady in a black suit standing nearby when I waved at her to indicate the payment was ready, she simply stood there and looked for other staff to approach our table instead of taking the folder herself and settling the bill.

Loved the place, loved working with the staff. They may be horrible at responding to email, but face-to-face, things get done! It was just too short, ended up working most of the time and did not enjoy the time at the hotel

Over all excellent hospitality

Been here several times, but it had been a while. The hotel is starting to show its age and definitely needs updating. It is starting to have that 1980's feel a bit, but it remains a wonderful site. The breakfast is outstanding as is the service and security. The Italian Restaurant on site is also quite good. Not sure I would consider staying anywhere else, but unlike in years past, I would consider it. The room was quite dated and a bit warm. The TV and room controls were really quite old, but the hotel remains charming and the lobby is exquisite and a place to see the highest society of Addis while drinking coffee/tea. The people remain wonderful and would still highly recommend the hotel.

This could be an excellent hotel but is appalling run. We were charged twice for our stay, on arrival and departure. It has taken 2 weeks of chasing to get a refund. We booked a transfer from the airport but there was nobody to meet us and we had to wait over 30 mins after a long and exhausting flight. We were overcharged for drinks in the bar. All bills had 10% service added and then 15% VAT on that. It is unclear if you can add VAT to service. We had a room near the lifts and you can hear them inside the room. The room has no USB sockets. We were charged about 22p to print our boarding passes.
