Travelodge by Wyndham Hope

Location was ideal, unfortunately my brother is 73 and I 70 so lifting our suitcases up to the second floor was difficult. But the location in town was ideal. The breakfast was not available until 9:30 a.m. so that was too late was we had planned to be on the road by 9 a.m., so we had to go to a neighbouring restaurant for breakfast

Room was spacious with a small stocked kitchenette. Small tv. Halls reaked of smoke although no smoking is allowed on property. Limited parking and the hours for the continental breakfast were very late. 930-11am.

Close to everything. Easy check in. Plenty of space for 4 adults two kids.

There was very little staff and when we came in there were people working but nobody acknowledged we were waiting. It wasn't a bad hotel but it could use improvement. I would probably stay again if necessary.

Travelling as a family, paid more for a hotel with a larger room, pool, and continental breakfast. POOL - pool is dimly lit cement hole in the ground, we didn't end up using. BREAKFAST - had an email advising that breakfast would be limited to cold items, which is disappointing but was still expecting access to cereal, yogurt, fruit, etc. The email failed to say that breakfast is only available 930am-11am. Food access is locked, as in padlocks on fridges. We were on the road before 9 so no breakfast for us. ROOM - room layout was great for a family, but it was a bit musty/smoky smelling and very loud.

Pros and cons. Room is ok for one night. Not a dive but its basic. Recent renos it looks like...walls, beds, bathroom. The rooms are small and for $187 a night 4 people I would expect a little more. The breakfast option is a continental style hard boiled egg, yogurt and dried up muffins. This is not mentioned on their website. It says breakfast included which I would assume is more than a continental snack. The hours for the front desk are odd. Closes at 9 pm and opens at 9:30 am along with the breakfast area. So much for getting an early start for travellers.... The air conditioning was less than ideal. Turned on full blast with a high temp of 26 C that day with arrival at 6 pm and the ac could not keep the temp below 24 C overnight. It was uncomfortably warm. Would I stay at this property again? No. Would i recommend it? No. Then again I dont know what other hotels are like in Hope. Maybe this is the standard of quality of all the hotels in this part of the Fraser Valley? Shop around is my advice.

We stayed here after a wedding. There are limited options for lodging in Hope, and this is the only “name brand” one. The property hasn’t been updated in potentially 30 years so it’s musky, but the rooms are large. The room and property was not worth the almost $200 we spent for the night, but it did the job for 8 hours of sleep.

The main office is only open from 9:30 am until 9:00 pm. The so called continental breakfast doesn’t start until 9:30 am. The place smelled of cigarettes when I walked into the office. Our room wasn’t vacuumed, the dishes in the cupboard were dirty. When it comes to washing the dishes you have to use the bathroom sink because there is no other sink. That bathroom sink had no plug either. Parking was a joke with only one handicapped spot that was utilized by a non-handicapped vehicle. There are no identifiable lights on the main road that let you know where the Travelodge is. Very dark. The price is way too high for what you get.

Horrible customer service. Showed up 8 minutes after 9 pm.....was informed check in was before 9 and we no longer had a reservation. Apparently I should have informed the road construction crew to let us go faster as we needed to be there at 8:59....not a second later! Never will stay at a Travelodge ever again! Worst customer service/experience I have ever had!
