Super 8 by Wyndham Lenexa Overland Park Area/Mall Area

We arrived on Thursday for my brain surgery on Friday. I stayed 1 night and my husband and service dog stayed 2 nights because I couldn't have her overnight in the hospital. It was by far the worst hotel experience of my life! They were wanting to charge a pet fee for my service dog, which is illegal! The girl who has only been there for 4 months thought their policy trumped law! I gave her an ADA card I carry on me for just this occasion. I recommended her and her manager both become familiar with it. And we may still call and get the name of their lawyer. We decided against my better judgment to spend the night and when we got to out room. I'm 130, there was patches on the walls where they fixed the walls,but never took the time to paint. The smoke detector was laying on the entertainment cabinet and there were lose wires hanging down from the ceiling where it was supposed to be. There was rust on both sides of the shower curtain rod where it connected to the wall. One of the two towels we were given had a gross stain on it! The floor and door also had a mystery stain. And they are both wood! Do not stay here! They even have the odasty to charge a $50 deposit. When honestly and damage you could do to the place would be an improvement!

The mattress was askew so I had to try and straighten it so I could get into it. At first I thought the bed was broken somehow because I fell trying to get in it was so far off the base. I don't know how the mattress ended up that way but it was a shock, to say the least.

When I arrived, I realized that to get anywhere within the hotel, I had to go up or downstairs, and there was no elevator, contrary to the fact that it said it was ADA accessible. I could not find anybody to check in to my room, and when I called the number listed at the front desk, it rang to the front desk. Another patron came up and started asking how much we paid and then proceeded to tell us that he was homeless and paid half of what we paid for our room. it made me very uncomfortable. When the staff member finally came to the desk after about five minutes of waiting, he told me that I had to pay a deposit on which I refused. When I asked about the ADA accessibility, he said that it was one floor down and accessible from an outside entrance, but the room that he had available for us with the two beds that we needed was on the second floor, so I had no choice, but to maneuver upstairs with great difficulty. Also, if he had put us in the ADA accessible room, the only way to get in and out of it would be an outside entrance with no accessibility to the lobby. The entire hotel smelled like fish, like some of us cooking in one of the rooms. Our bathroom door was broken, we had broken tiles on the floor in the bathroom, the room carpet had not been vacuumed, and the air conditioner was not properly blowing. The next morning when I went down for the complementary breakfast, there was nothing and I had to go find a staff member again and ask if anything was going to be set out.

The staff are unaccommodating and you have to go get everything that you ask for. The rooms are gross! I wiped the floor the first night we were there and the cloth I used was filthy!

Everything was great. Pool was open and clean. Staff was friendly. but they only left one partially used roll of toilet paper for 2 days.
