Tam Coc Banana Bungalow

The grounds are quite nice, the pool looked clean, there was a koi pond, it was a pleasant place to be in that regard. The bathroom facilities were decent enough too for a hostel. Bed and dorm was clean.

The staff gave off the vibe that they didn't want to be there, there was one guy who was decent (Tung?) but the rest of them were quite aloof. When I was there, it was quiet in terms of other guests, so being there alone with just the staff was not the best vibe. Also the beds were not all that comfortable, the isolator switch for all the rooms electricity was next to the light switch, so other guests would accidentally hit that when turning off the lights, which would turn off all the fans and the A/C. They should explain this when doing the run through, but they dont. Also the breakfast was nothing special. I wouldn't return.

Check in was awful. Arrived at 1AM after sleeper bus and had messaged to ask about a taxi and the reply was “it’s only 25 minutes, you can walk”. Poor for a solo female and indeed anyone at that time of night. Had to rely on a random taxi as grab did not have anyone at that hour. The guy who checked me in spoke absolutely no English and I was left to find my bed and the bathrooms alone. There was one kind smiley guy behind reception but the girl unfortunately was always very short with me and nobody spoke much English at all. No pleasantries or chit chat here sadly. I wonder if bad experiences have put them off because I would say they are a bit stricter in some ways than other hostels (I had to itemise all my laundry items before handing the bag over for example). The bed was not comfortable in the hostel - very hard sadly. The pool was unheated and I visited in December so didn’t use it. I wish I could give a better review because I took the advice of lonely planet and booked here but I would describe it as good overall, not excellent or amazing. The price is very good though and it’s in a nice location.

Wonderful hotel with such a friendly staff i have been to ninh binh several times over the last 5 years and only stay here . I always recommend it when meeting other travelers through vietnam. And the free breakfast is a huge plus. The pool is clean and the koi pond is full of hige colorful koi
