Comfort Inn & Suites

I could have given this a 4 star or 5 star review, except for a couple minor gripes and one major one. First the good stuff. The staff member upon checkin was excellent as was the staff member I spoke to at checkout. The room was very roomy and had nice appointments and a comfortable bed. The breakfast was excellent in the morning. Here are my minor gripes. I like a desk and a desk chair in my room, and this room had both. Sadly, the desk chair back was broken and could be sat in for no more than 5-10 minutes, with no back support. Why wasn't it replaced a long time ago. I don't know, it seems so obvious. The hotel room was reasonably clean, but the common areas were pretty dirty. I was only there for a night, and tried not to touch anything in the common areas, just in case. My big gripe concerned a tailgate party between 10:30pm and 11:30pm behind the hotel this Monday night. A group of Indo Canadians ( I don't even know if they were staying in the hotel or if this is a town hangout) decided to setup right outside my window which looked out back, with their 26 oz liquor bottles. All I wanted to do was have a good sleep, and after 45 minutes of them going at it outside my window, tried to call down to the front desk. I tried 4 times and they ignored the call. Finally at 11:30pm I got dressed and went down to the front desk. I thought there would be no one there, but the front desk clerk was right there. I told her I had been trying to call and asked why they were ignoring their phone. All she said was, sorry. I then told them of the tailgate party and asked how that supported the big sign on the counter indicating the 10:00pm noise bylaw. Amazingly, she suggested that she could move me to a different room. I didn't want to move, I just wanted a good sleep. I asked if I should call the police and report this, and she asked that I not and said she would contact the manager. She must have done that because the party broke up a few minutes later and everything was quiet. I take exception to them ignoring their phone when guests ring the front door desk. My call was due to a major annoyance, but what if someone had a serious emergency. I think this is wrong and am going to report this to their head office. In summary, it is not a bad property and the room is spacious and well laid out. I would stay again and insist on a room with windows facing out front. They are not going to get away with a tail gate party on a late Monday night out front, or at least, that is my belief. Sigh

Staff awesome. Very helpful. Seemed to really enjoy her job.

Noisy cooling system. Room too hot. Positioning of coffee pot. Difficult to use. Needs small table by reading chair. Extra coffee pods. Being picky but small things really count.

Very clean, friendly staff and good breakfast.

Different curtains in the room, that close fully, blocking the light would be a good improvement.

Shame pool so cold & slide & hot tub not working. Feel proper cutlery at breakfast would be good, disposable ones not strong & taste a bit odd!!
