Salty Dog Hostel

Great vibe, Mostly quet place, outdoors. Very welcoming family Arif takes care of guests, boys helping too. You can order pizza there on certain days. Lovely pets, guarding place. It's quite safe, even experienced earthquakes on the island, reef and waves break very far from here.

This place is truly a gem🤩the hotel is located in front of a beautiful bay that offers incredible landscape and sunset! The owner Arief is such a nice guy and him and his family make sure every guest has the best possible experience, he has helped us many times to book transports for example or gave us a tour in a traditional village, and we even got to visit secret waterfall! The hostel is located between two surf spots and it is possible to rent scooters directly at the hostel. There is also a great snorkelling spot within a 10min walk We absolutely loved the vibe here and met some very nice people, one of the best hostel we have been to in 5 months of traveling !

Just perfect place with perfect manager. Decided to extend our stay in here because place feels like home. Arif helps you out with everything and make sure guests are feeling okay. Rooms are simple but clean and comfy. Really nice shared kitchen. Communal spaces are nice and location next to ocean. Good snorkeling spot in walking distance!

Absolutely enjoyed my stay. It's a simple hostel but with wonderful vibes and amazing owners! Had a really great time there! Will come back...for suuuuree!! :D

after one month in Sumatra. moving from one town to another. finally end up in salty dog hostel. I have to say. this is the best place among all in Sumatra. the owner of this hostel Arif build here as a perfect backpacker place. he buy fresh cooked local street food from the town and bring it back to his guest as the free breakfast. and everyday is different dish. every Sunday the owner and his family go to a church in the trandional village for the mass. and if u r lucky and been invited to go there with the family together. u will find out this guy Arif is almost a celebrity in this whole region. as a musician. Arif play guitar while his wife sing song in the church. and as a artist. he actually paint and designed this church all by himself. he even helped the pool people to build new house...his father is also a great guy. highly respected by other villagers. so anyway. if u really want to explore the culture and history here in nias island. this is the right place to come. except for all this.here in the hostel has shared kitchen to cook. tea and coffee and drinking water. motor bike. surfing board. palm trees and millions of coconut. beach in front. and of course. lots lots lots of salty dogs.

Where should I begin.... Amazin place, nice people, the owner arif and his family, woow... Such lovely helpful people. Here you get much more what u payed, amazin pizza evenings free, Village tours, help with everything (visa extend, taxi...) Located between 2 surf spots, u can rent scooter with board rack and just go. I stayed 10 days there and I am sad to leave... A mix between hostel and homestay. Thanks for everything
