Hotel Nacional Garni

I stayed at this hotel, and right at the entrance, there was a sign stating that the reception operates from 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM. During check-in, I was told that outside of those hours, I could use a key that was given to me, meant for the car gate. I left my belongings in the room and went out around 3:00 PM to explore the city, returning around 10:45 PM. To my surprise, the hotel was already locked, and there was no one at the reception. I contacted the property through the Booking.com chat, and instead of helping me promptly, the owner (who lives on the hotel premises) kept questioning why I didn’t have the key with me. I explained that I had returned before the stated closing time, but she continued blaming me for not taking the key. After 25 minutes alone on the street at night in an unfamiliar city, she finally informed me there was a lockbox outside with a spare key. The complete lack of empathy and urgency from the host is simply unacceptable in the hospitality business. Two days later, as I was leaving with my car, the owner came to collect the key in a very rude manner — without even saying good morning. Travel is, above all, about experiences — and the least a guest expects is to be treated with kindness. Unfortunately, this property failed terribly in that regard. I do not recommend it and would definitely not return.
