Rosewood Guangzhou

I have just spent the last two nights at the Rosewood and it was exceptional in every way so much so I was sad to check out. The hotel organised a transfer from the airport. The Mercedes Benz was clean and comfortable. I arrived to the hotel in the early morning and was greeted by the very special Vera Yan at the front desk. Vera has been part of the reason my stay at this hotel has been so special. As a first time solo traveller to China Vera helped me with everything from arranging to have my room available early to navigating apps to dinner reservations. The hotel itself is very impressive. I stayed in a deluxe river view room and it was superb. I ate at most of the hotels restaurants and all meals were first grade. The breakfast was wonderful. The staff are what really set this hotel above most other hotels. The ‘welcome back Ms Kelly’ and ‘good morning Ms Kelly’ didn’t go unnoticed. I am one of those travelers that very rarely stays at the same hotel twice, but I will be returning to the Rosewood. Congratulations to the management and all staff at the Rosewood, my stay couldn’t have been better.

We made our first trip to Guangzhou after hearing from so many of our friends raving about their experiences there. There was a toss between Ritz Carlton, Four Seasons and Rosewood as it's the newest and tallest. We were delighted by our 5 night stay there! Aside from the panoramic view from our 99 Fl room, the various service staff were overwhelming in their attention in serving our needs, from making reservation at popular restaurants to advice on sightseeing etc. Aside from the friendly front office staff, the young men at the hotel entrance were ever attentive to our needs and personable in their service. s Kudos to them! I especially enjoyed the rooftop bar, oddly named Too High, which was always crowded and packed with young people taking selfies and photos of the magnificent view. The South American band was great, but playing mainly jazzy music rather than familiar songs. The saxophonist was outstanding and the lady singer had a style about her. While Guangzhou is basically a big city experience and not much of sightseeing for the discerning traveller, staying at the Rosewood makes it a nice city vacation, enjoying the sense of luxury and having a feel of the vibes of this modern city.

The ambience and decorations were impressive and the view from the hotel room was memorable. The service was great and the food at Lingnan House was great.

The price was steep.

We had a very memorable moment after we checked in to Rosewood. As we hadn’t had lunch we decided to have early dinner at Lingnan House, a Michelin star Cantonese restaurant on the 5 level. We went to the restaurant to look at the menu and learnt that it was fully booked for 5.30pm when it opened for dinner. The manager, Sammi told us we can be scheduled 8.00pm and kindly showed us to a table to look at the menu. The menu was full of mouthwatering dishes. Ivan, one of her staff also advised us pre-order as we were worried that some items might be sold out. When we mentioned that we had not eaten lunch, Sammi offered some cakes and led us to the patio to have them. Ivan also served us water. I don’t recall being treated this way by any other restaurant at home and elsewhere.

Everything, service rooms above expectations

Our toilet bidet was broken. I asked for it to be fixed but it broke again. Bidet was not working

This has been a truly wonderful journey, and I would like to thank everyone at the hotel. If we come to Guangzhou again next time, I will still choose the Rosewood Guangzhou Hotel.
