Le Stanze di Piazza Cairoli

The location was great in terms of it being very walkable to all the major sites in the city. Not too far from the train station (took about 15 min) with a big suitcase. Close to the marina too, as I left by ferry. It was great that the room was ready when I arrived. Nice to have a coffee machine in the room that also gave hot chocolate. Room was serviced daily and a pastry was provided too. Bed was very comfortable. Very handy not to have keys but use key code instead.

While I was aware the room was in a residential building with no lift, there was no mention of having to climb up 5 flights of stairs (50 steps) to get to the room. It's on the top floor. I had a suitcase as I'm travelling for a month, and it was a real pain trying to lug it up the stairs myself. And I had to do the same when I left. So be aware of this if you've heavy bags/ travelling solo. The flat is in a really noisy part of Messina. While it's centrally located, it's right next to Piazza Cairoli. There are lots of people hanging around, talking loudly. But even more annoyingly, my room was facing the piazza and a motorbike parking area, which would be fine, but these motorbike riders seemed to just like hanging around, sitting on their bikes with their engines revving at all hours. This would go on late into the night (past midnight/1am). And this is even with double layer window. So if you're a light sleeper, you're going to need ear plugs to sleep. Towels were very thin and could do with a refresh. The shower sealant is terrible and water spills out onto the floor, so be aware. I ended up having to wipe the floor with towels after each shower. When I booked room, it was mentioned that breakfast was provided, but I was only told this wasn't the case after I'd checked in. The website for the apartment still says brekky provided, but staff member told me that's no longer the case.

Il fatto che sia in centro che il letto si comodo e che lo staff risponde subito.

Solo il fatto che non c'è un armadietto ma soltanto un appendiabiti, però è una cosa più che trascurabile.
