Location to the station

Our first room was in the basement although it did have a window. Our bathroom had a leak in the ceiling and so we were moved to one of the refurbished rooms which was fantastic

Uncomfortable pillow, extremely soft mattress, no switch to turn on the bedside lamps on one side of the big bed...

Die zentrale Lage direkt am Hauptbahnhof ist herausragend, gleichzeitig ist es sehr ruhig.

- Die gemeinschaftlichen Hotelräume sind in die Jahre gekommen und etwas muffig. Das Hotelzimmer selbst ist einwandfrei. - Ich musste mich zwei Tage mit der Rezeption herumärgern, um endlich eine Rechnung bekommen (w/Dienstreise). Die Rezeption behauptete, die Rechnung bekäme ich nur auf Booking (was nicht stimmt). Ein Hotel, dass keine Rechnung ausgeben will, habe ich noch nie erlebt - bizarr. - Wenn die kleinen Tuben Duschgel und Shampoo leer sind, gibt es keine neuen. - Nach Rückkehr um 15:00 Uhr war die Zimmertür nicht verschlossen, das Zimmer war dennoch nicht gemacht. - Das Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis beim Frühstück ist lächerlich. Es wird immer nur so viel nachgelegt, dass gerade noch ein/zwei Croissants, drei/vier Lachsstückchen und eine Espresso-Tasse da stehen. Einen Tag gibt es Naturjoghurt, den nächsten wieder nicht.

Hotel Victoria is located mid way between the Lake shoreline and the old town at the top of the hill. It’s also adjacent to the Metro that runs up and down the hill which made it very easy to visit both locations without climbing millions of stairs. What’s more the hotel supplied us with Lausanne travel cards for our stay which included free use of all public transport including the Metro. The hotel is at least 120 years old and architecturally would be classifies as Art Nouveau. The inside is beautiful and decorated in the same style.our room (Junior Suite) was huge which was a great relief from some of the rather tiny rooms we have had in other hotel s on our trip. The reception staff were excellent and gave us an excellent suggestion to visit Chillon Castle as we arrived at 11:00am and our room was not available at that time. We were able to visit the Castle (well worthwhile) by train and bus and then return to the hotel in the late afternoon.

The hotel is rated as a 4 star hotel, however we were surprised that we were supplied with paper cups for our coffee/tea maker and plastic beakers for other drinks. There was also no bottle opener/corkscrew available if wine or beer was your choice of beverage. This was a minor inconvenience but is really something that should be addressed by this hotel. Most travellers would expect proper cups and glasses and something to open drinks in a 4 star hotel. Of more concern is that all the power outlets in our room were Swiss which are not compatible with European plugs. The hotel do have adapters for use but on our visit they are all being used by other guests and the only solution offered was for me to wander down the street and purchase one from an electronics store close by. Thankfully the store did have one, and only one, available for purchase. In my view this could be a major issue and needs addressing by the senior management of the hotel. Overall, our experience was overwhelmingly positive given the issues raised earlier.

The room was large and very nice bathroom and it had an elevator. It was also very close to the train station, Metro and bus lines.

Some breakfast items were not replaced during the breakfast hour and fridge in the room didn’t work.

Great location. Very short walk from train station. Rooms recently renovated. Large bright clean bathroom. Staff was very friendly. We didn’t get breakfast but from what we saw it looked good.

We were only there for one night so didn’t have a chance to explore the neighborhood but did not see many restaurants etc
