Holiday Inn Express Richmond Airport by IHG

Shower was hot, had plenty of pillows, HVAC system work fine, and coffee & tea provided in the room. Nice sized TV with plenty of channels. Had working fridge and microwave. Served free breakfast in the morning will a large selection of breakfast items. Staff corrected my room location. Close to many restaurants and only 15 minutes from downtown Richmond.

Staff had all rooms prepared for arriving bookings for the day, but ignored request for room location. I wanted a room away from high traffic areas such as elevators and ice/vending machines, and I was placed in the room closets to the elevators and ice machine. Older staff member stated she was unfamiliar with room layout. I also wanted a firm mattress for my lower back sciatica, but all beds were the same old matrasses. Breakfast hot bar section was cold at 7:30 AM, and had only one egg option a spicy fake egg omelet with peppers.

- Check in was fast and easy. - Breakfast was hot and plentiful - You always see cleaning staff working - Front desk was understanding + helpful - Shower water was hot - AC blows nice and cold - No bugs or hair very clean - Comfy beds - King lounge room has mini fridge, microwave, TV by the bed, coffee maker (coffee machines in lobby too), safe, closet, vanity mirror, adjustable shower head, great lighting, privacy curtain, a desk and a chase, an area for luggage, and a dresser, and so much more. - Treadmill, bike, and elliptical. - Close to the airport and many convenience stores, restaurants, and gas stations. - Quiet at night got good sleep and never heard my neighbors - DOVE products in the bathroom not those cheap little hotel bottles - stamped toilet paper into little bows?! Overall what is being done right here far outweighs the two downsides, so it was an obvious choice!!! Thank you for a great stay.

Breakfast great. Pool perfunctory. Fitness facilities below average for the cost of the hotel. Pricey.

The foyer/entry was bright and welcoming.

The lighting in the parking lot could have been better.

The Booking com reservation noted that free parking was allowed on-site. When I arrived, there were large signs on the counter stating that parking was $10/night. I asked and was told it was an "airport thing", but I could ask someone in the morning. I did ask in the morning and was told I was not being charged because Booking.com had not updated their site to include the new charge. The inconsistency was troubling, but the hotel honored the wordig of the reservation.

There were five separate taxes applied to my reservation, adding 16.28% ($24.26) to the base daily rate. States and cities are picking the pockets of the very travelers they talk about as welcome guests.

Breakfast was great. The bed was comfortable.

The swimming pool was too cold.

My flight arrived very close to midnight so I called the Holiday Inn to confirm that the shuttle was operating and it was. A very nice driver picked me up and I was at the hotel and in the bed by 12:15. After an 18 hour travel day this was a welcomed comfort. Room was quiet and cool, bed was cosy which made for a good night's rest. When I awoke, .Costa coffee and breakfast were available in the reception area. The perfect one night stay.
