Garden City Hotel, BW Signature Collection

Good location and lovely staff. But walls very thin - were woken every morning by neighbours' alarm! And room a bit dusty.

My adult children booked 3 separate rooms at this hotel for 1 night. All 3 rooms had issues. 1 had a distinct sewerage smell from even outside the room and thankfully she was moved. My son had a broken toilet that would not flush and when reception was advised they were told no maintenance staff worked over Easter and they did not have another room available. Really unacceptable with no solution offered other than to use someone else’s room…not even a compensation of a free breakfast. Considering reviews and rating of this hotel which is why we booked we really expected much better and would never stay again.

So bad they refunded me- avoid!

We spent 3 nights in the Garden City Hotel on a visit to Canberra. It is well out of town for anything within walking distance but a 10-15 minute drive will get you anywhere you want to go. The hotel is well priced compared to others close to the CBD. The room was clean, the bed was big and firm and the shower was the best I have ever experienced in a hotel. The pressure available was tremendous. We did not have breakfast there, preferring to find a café a few minutes away so I cannot comment on it. There is a German Club next door which has very well priced meals if you don't want to go into town. There is also a golf club across the road, we did not try it but I assume food would be available there as well. Overall, gathered that you need a car to get to most attractions in Canberra no matter where you chose to stay, this is a great option

Friendly staff

Fridge was turned off to save money, fridge sets in the cabinet, so there is no room for the hot air from fridge to escape. Washroom was tiny. Toilet and sink was cramped. Inconvenient to use. Washroom exhaust fan was old and noisy like a diesel engine running. Pictures in the website are misrepresented.
