Hotel La Siesta Malecón

This is a nice little hotel located right on the Malecon. The view is fantastic as was the people watching from my sea view room. The street noise however can be a bit much. That said, I was there on Halloween and Dia de Los Muertos celebrations. The staff were very friendly especially Martin at reception and Juan the doorman. They were quick to help when I needed anything. and had great recommendations for restaurants and activities. The pool was beautifully kept, the room was clean and comfortable, but could use a bit of updating. Air conditioning worked great.

The view and location were excellent, right on the Malecon and beach. Lots of nearby restaurants and blocks from the old city and squares.

Great location. Lots of great restaurants within walking distance. Beautiful views and lots of action at night. Would stay again!!

I have always liked staying, but in the last few years it has become very noisy with street traffic.

I booked La Siesta because we were arriving in Mazatlán late at night after a long bus ride, and they offered a midnight check-in option. I also wanted a room with a sea view and close to the beach. The view was fantastic, and being able to check in at midnight was really convenient. We also appreciated the option to drop off our clothes for laundry, which was handled by an external service through the hotel reception — very convenient. The pool was small but pleasant. I didn’t try the bar or other hotel facilities, but overall, it was a ok stay.

Since the hotel is right next to a busy street, it can get very noisy, especially on weekends and even during the day. I’d definitely recommend bringing earplugs. The rooms feel a bit outdated — while the bed and linens were fine, the bathrooms could use some upgrades. There was an unpleasant odor coming from the pipes, so we had to keep the bathroom door closed most of the time. For the same price we paid at La Siesta we found after two nights a 5 star hotel. So the quality/price report was huge.

Location was excellent. Close to everything, stores to buy snacks and beverages. Cafe’s and restaurant nearby to eat. The beach right across the street. You can walk to Plaza Machado surrounded by historic buildings, restaurant, bars and shopping. The room was quaint and rustic but we expected that and it met our needs.

The room location was excellent with an ocean view but since it’s on the Malacon there was traffic noise. No elevator but nice staff to help you carry your things.

As a solo female traveler I felt very safe. Hotel staff was excellent and they had a guard out front.
