Balboa Inn, On The Beach At Newport

I will start with my Valet which was quick and attendative. Our check inn was everything we asked for. Oceanview was perfect. We had a couple of drinks at the bar and couldn’t have had a better bartender Rich made our drinks better than anticipated with a twist. We also had dinner at the Italian Restaurant Matera and had the ravioli lobster with the Salmon. It was excellent not to mention our service from Marcelo. He knew the menu well, it was another great experience. We will return.

Kenny was amazing. And his staff, the stuff under his supervision the first day amazing.

There were some lulls, especially with the front desk staff, not Kenny, he was amazing. But there was a gentleman named Renee, he doesn't really belong in the people service industry. He was bitter He had a chip on his shoulder. He was very short, not very responsive, and would not affirm or acknowledge me as a paying customer, even though I am very courageable. And did not let on to him that I was displeased. One instance I did ask for the front desk and he answered I asked to who I am speaking with. He said "front desk,"unwilling to give his name. Also, I asked for a small extension at checkout. And he abruptly answered. 1:00 and hung up the phone. This confrontational. And far from polite. Other than that, the staff at MATERA, especially marciello, was wonderful the food was amazing. The company was incredible. The ambiance end ing was very wonderful. People everywhere were very kind, and I would recommend coming here. Except if there is some corporate hierarchy here, you ought to consider the attitude of your front desk manager Renee. Found him dumpleasant almost a deal breaker in coming back again. Other than that, everything was very wonderful. Thank you Kenny. For your kindness, and overwhelming sense of hospitality.

No telephone or refrigerator in room. Carpet had stains all over it. Very dated room.
