Best Western Plus York Hotel and Conference Center

We travel to see family out west and have stayed at the York Best Western quite a few times over the years. This year we were pleasantly surprised to see upgrades to the rooms and entrance. Very welcoming and appreciated.

We noticed there was not a lockable safe in our room. After reading the posted requirements on the back side of our door, it said it was a law to have a safe in each room. Just something we noticed.

Location - clean facilities - solid breakfast

Breakfast was unusually promising. I usually skip the breakfasts due to dietary restrictions, but there were nice small cheese omelets and I indulged in one. The rest of the offerings looked better than average. When there isn't a freezer compartment in the mini-fridge, I miss it because I re-freeze cold packs for my coolers. However, there was a conveniently located ice machine and I only bring small coolers so that was enough to get me through the next day. Staff was excellent and patient dealing with a reservation complication. Despite the proximity to the interstate, it was blessedly quiet in the room--and the staff asked which floor I preferred, and located me there.

My Booking.com reservation never reached the facility. We needed to straighten that out so I wouldn't be charged as a no-show when I was standing right there. This involved about 30 minutes with Booking.com's customer service. It was straightened out, although that took a lot of back-and-forth and some kindness on the part of the hotel staff.

I was skeptical because this is the first time I've been here for a few years. Everything was as good as I remember but, not perfect. The hotel outlay and floorplan is kinda weird. But, you can still find your way around. Nice pool with perfect water temperature. The exercise room was pretty well equipped and everything worked. Best breakfast of our trip. Large area with ample buffet in the center. And the best breakfast staff anywhere. Property must have new owners cuz now there's unnecessary rules for the pool area so, no adult relaxation time. I'll still recommend it and I will return.
