Baymont by Wyndham Kirksville University Area

I do not write reviews unless they are good reviews. This time is an exception. We stayed at the Baymont for a family event. We chose this hotel due to having a pool, tub and the room accommodated 3 people. We could have gotten a group discount at another hotel and tried to get that discount here but to no avail. The one staff member I dealt with name was Sharon. She was very nice under the conditions she was dealing with. In short, this hotel needs to be closed down. It is clear they have had water leakage issues throughout the hotel. You can actually see the structural issues. Our room sink was leaking only to find out underneath was full of water. We requested towels and cleaned that up and turned off the valve. The A/C filer was dirty, and air was not coming out. We cleaned that. The roll away bed you could not sleep on. I had to have another mattress brought up to put on top of the existing mattress. There was not A/C in the halls, and it was damp. And lastly, they have a "house cat". I am not opposed to animals, but I have only experienced this in other countries. They offered us another room, but it was not big enough. They comped our bill $89.00. This was the worst experience I have ever had in a hotel, and I travel a lot. As a Certified Concierge I recommend you look elsewhere. The Special Olympics are to be in Kirksville for the next three years I have been told. Book now elsewhere if you plan to attend.

Breakfast was good. Location was easy access to the main roads. It was quick to get on and off the highway.

The room still had 2 dirty washcloths in it and the tub had water sitting. The bath tub did not drain very well and the water gathered quickly at your feet.

Pool was not operational and the hotel was very outdated and in need of a lot of renovations and repairs

The breakfast is still very bad. Not a fan of the cat that lives in the lobby and on the luggage carts

The room was clean and the front area had a cat, which was adorable (the front area was also clean). My biggest qualm with my stay was Sharon (? Pretty sure that was her name) at the front desk. She was incredibly unfriendly. I was not greeted, she ignored me when I came to the front desk, when I wanted to check in early she was rude, and she had an attitude after that. There is a $25 fee for checking in early, which is something I haven’t encountered in any hotels I’ve stayed at. It’s clean and the bed is comfortable, that’s pretty much all this hotel has going for it.

I’m very appreciative of Sharon who was able to allow us in our rooms before check-in time in order to make a graduation ceremony. Decent breakfast.
