Red Roof Inn Michigan City

I didn’t expect it to be top of the line or anything but I did not expect it to be in the condition it was. Hotel staff was friendly, but the room was NOT. Dead bugs on the floor, ants crawling around the room, smelled wet, microwave was dirty, fridge had rust inside, room didn’t feel like it was cleaned or even touched for months, floor was dirty, hair (possible cat or small dog) on the bed/pillows/IN the sheets, pillowcases were dirty, even if we wanted coffee we couldn’t drink it because there was no coffee pot, and last but not least the smoke alarm started to chirp low battery at 2am and then decided to stop at 8am. I didn’t expect super great but i didn’t expect this trash.

It was close to beach.

The property had homeless people and drug addicts. That was not great and had to complain about it.

The staff was kind and friendly! BUT, we changed rooms twice to supposed "non-smoking" rooms. Spraying a fresh scent doesn't fix the walls which absolutely reek of smoking! Either they need to fine smokers heavily for use of those rooms, which by the way they say they do, or not call them nonsmoking. It was horrible and difficult to sleep. We are double washing our clothes to hopefully remove the odor. Stay away from this place!
