Courtyard by Marriott Scottsdale Old Town

Quiet, clean hotel. Would stay there again

Stayed several nights in July. Definitely off season in Scottsdale so great value and a quiet hotel. During my stay I found the hotel staff to be very, very positive be it the front desk; the Bistro; or housekeeping. Always friendly and positive. BUT, Marriott management is letting these people down! The hotel, while still comfortable, is showing its age: my room phone was full of static when in use; the TV system is from DirectTV and is their 1989 version. In other words this hotel is way late for a renovation! Note: I am a Marriott Bonvoy Lifetime Titanium member.

Staff doesn't like to be interrupted. Breakfast closes early when they feel like it. Breakfast is actually a Starbucks. Do not buy breakfast ahead of time. No food or drinks until 5pm. Won't stay here again.

One star seems about right. Not so much about the hotel, but the staff. I travel a lot for work. I was reserved the Salt River Residence Inn, but the Friday before my trip I received an email that their pool would not be available the week I was there. It would be over 100 degrees in AZ. So I booked the Courtyard. First night, I got back from dinner and wanted a glass of wine. The bar is closed all summer. No sign or notice, First morning. The website says breakfast starts at 6AM. I get there at 6:10 and am told that it does not start until 6:30. No sign to when it starts Day 3- After messing with their printer and computer for 10 minutes trying to print something. I go the front to be told the printer does not work. No sign. Day 3- I ask about doing laundry. The door to the laundry is broken and cannot be openned. It worked the following day I call Sunday- 2 days after I left and voice my concern to a manager and am assured I will get bonus points. Nothing happens Call again Tuesday, speak to Manager Jessica and am assured I will get points that day. Again nothing happens. I call Bonvoy to see if action have been initiated and they said no. The hotel itself is not bad, but the culture of the staff, including the managers needs and upgrade.

Tucked away off Scottsdale Rd it's a little slice of heaven. Clean and accommodating. The King Room was big with a balcony overlooking the sparkling pool that was so refreshing. It included a small menu, made to order breakfast. The mini Starbucks was convenient. The star of the show was the manager, Victoria. What a sweetheart who knows how to treat guests with respect. Kudos Victoria and team.

Breakfast was acceptable and location is good.

The Wifi didnt work for our room, despite inputting our room number and last name. The receptionist couldn't resolve it and we ended up using our hotpot for work instead. Not really acceptable for the Marriott.

Everything went completely beyond my expectations. Best hotel stay i’ve had at this price.

The bed was comfortable and the hotel was very clean

For the $$ it would have been nice to have complimentary coffee available in the lobby (without having to purchase expensive Starbucks). The bathroom counter is small without a lot of space to put toiletries and cosmetics so a wall shelf would have been a nice addition. Being on the 5th floor the room was hot and stuffy on the last night due to the high temperatures outside. The AC didn’t seem to be able to keep up
