DoubleTree by Hilton Downtown Wilmington - Legal District

We were a large party with multiple rooms for a family wedding. Members of party called prior to our stay inquiring about the pool. We were traveling with several children who were looking forward to pool. Upon arrival we were told it was permanently closed. After a long five hour drive we arrived early prior to our check-in time, but understood that the room may not be available. The problem was that that the men’s restroom in the lobby was needed for three young boys. We were told it was under renovation and would have to wait until check in. When we did get into our rooms there was a smoke detector hanging from the wall and numerous wires that were exposed between two adjoining rooms which were a safety and trip hazard. The elevator from the parking garage was out of service and all our luggage needed to be carried up the stairs. No housecleaning was done after our first night stay and towels were wet and in short supply. Attempts were made to speak to management and no credible responses were received back. Bottom line is to stay elsewhere in Wilmington. Photos are attached of the issues.

No electricity, no water, all night yet hotel allowed me to check in 30 minutes before knowing they would be losing power. Saw noticed upon opening door to room about a minor interruption to power. No water. Electricity out from 9:30 pm to 6:00 am. No hot water in the morning After electricity arrived. No elevators at all, no help from staff in helping to move to another hilton hotel

Check in was a shitshow, Arrived at 5 , line was 12 people deep. Stood in line for an hour didn't move at all.They were totally unprepared. People walking by told us it took them 3hrs to check in.They had no idea what room were ready or weren't ,Decide to go eat dinner.Came back 7 to try it check in again , had to send somebody up to room to make sure it was ready. Mind you check in to time was 3. Totally unacceptable from any hotel , i've stayed at hiltons before and have never had any issues.Everybody trying to check in had issues. It was unbelievable

location is excellent for my visit

bedding was not clean on 1 bed. the construction work has left the carpet looking poor on 3rd floor

The hotel was clean and comfortable. We were in town for a concert which was a 5 minute walk to the venue. Staff was kind and friendly. Food at the restaurant was delicious!
