Holiday Inn Express Kunming West by IHG

I liked the help and interaction with the lobby staff and also the staff who assisted me at breakfast answering all my questions and were absolutely professional and lovely people to be associated with. I would like to highlight Vivien at the front desk and Ding Juan who were both extremely helpful and made my stay so much more enjoyable.

Friendly and helpful staff, great breakfast, and room service

It was not in the center of the city but very easy to get to. 20min by metro from the old city part and 25min from the train station. It was clean and no noises

The breakfast was good but simple, do not expect a huge buffet.

1) The location: 460 m from Exit A Liangjiahe metro station. Easy access from Kunming airport: Took Line 6 metro from airport with a easy transfer at East Coach Station to Line 3 (Total: 50 mins). Do not know how much the total fare was because I used the 72 hour Kunming Metro Card for unlimited travel bought at airport metro station for CNY 35 (24 hour card costs CNY 15) 2) Quiet: 110 m setback from the busy Renmin Road and sound-proofed 3) Very generous with bottled water: Our twin room was supplied with 6 bottles of water each day and there were more at the lift lobby of each floor. 4) Japanese toilet. 5) Wood panel flooring: The floor does not feel cold at night in winter. 6) Tea and coffee making facility in the room. 7) Staff very helpful, friendly and accommodating: Our departure flight was 6 pm and we are granted late check-out at 2 pm without hesitation. The reception staff also helped to change our 100 yuan notes into 10 yuan and 1 yuan notes (useful whenever our Alipay app did not work) 8) Good buffet breakfast with a wide variety: Rice, fried noodles, soup noodle station, egg station, pastries, fruits (cut and whole) fried vegetables, potatoes, tea, coffee machine, cereal, porridge, local snacks, steamed corn, sweet potatoes, buns, etc

Centrally controlled air-conditioner in winter. We requested for a quiet room and was given a room away from the busy Beijing Road but faces the sun obliquely. It got very warm in the afternoon. We requested for a change and was given a room facing the busy main road. There was hardly any traffic noise because all buses, motorcycles, and most cars in Kunming run on electricity. Moreover the hotel rooms were more than 110 m away from the main road.

Staff are all very professional and friendly. From electrician, security guard to cleaner, you will feel being welcomed and respected.

The room is super hot , u cannot adjust their aircond, about 4am they will switch off the aircond. But u can request for a portable fan,but its still hot
