Sleep Inn Beaufort near MCAS

I booked two nights at the Sleep Inn Beaufort to take a mini trip to Hunting Island. Check in was easy and the desk clerk let us know the pool closed at dark (no time given) and opened again at 8am. When we got to our room the first thing we noticed was the smell. It smelled of mildew/mold and overall just dirty. We opened the window to air it out and just noting here that there was no screen. May be a concern for those traveling with young children. We noticed several mystery stains on the carpet and upon closer inspection we did find several (dead) bugs. We pulled back the covers on the bed and from the top of the comforter to the bottom was BLACK with mold/ mildew. A bit of honesty- I’m not sure how to differentiate between the two. Only that there were huge splotches of black covering the entirety of the bedding. Most likely causing the smell in the room. The lamp beside it also had black splotches on the shade. We could not stay in that room. I informed the clerk up front of our findings and he did switch our room. To the one next door.. so if Room 123 has bugs it’s only fair to assume 121 will as well. Plot twist- it did. I was not prepared to pay for another hotel and since 121 didn’t have the obvious mold we just had to tough it out. We stayed gone as much as we could. I did not see bad reviews when I booked but I’m hoping people do see this one and make a better choice then I did when staying in Beaufort.

The view of the back window was very pretty. The staff was amazing and very helpful. Breakfast was good.

I don’t think it was worth the price that I paid to stay there. It’s very musty and had a very weird smell to it. My refrigerator was disgusting. There was hair in the shower. There were stains on the sheets, but I’m not from there so maybe that was a cheap price for a hotel in that area I don’t know. I would definitely be staying in a different hotel next time.

Accessible to my needs

The staff and room were fine. Nothing special, but adequate. Compared to the Comfort Inn a block away, it was overpriced

The breakfast was extremely subpar

Room was not very clean. Toilet had not been cleaned in quite a while. The shower was missing one of its windows by the door so my son called it an "Open Air" shower. Some of the breakfast items were undercooked. The entire hotel is in desperate need of a remodel.

Old rundown fixtures & furniture. Same person required to prepare breakfast & ck people in & out. Room service every other day? Lacking a comfortable, clean stay.

Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Everything was clean and close to restaurants. We enjoyed our stay!
