"Take me back"

10.0

Perfect location as it was a 15 minute walk into the nearest town. Great little room themed in David Bowie style. Breakfast was perfectly cooked and very attentive making sure we had enough of everything. Great quirky place to stay. Love the Art deco style and feature rooms. Definitely stay again

All good

"Beautiful, unique property and fantastic hosts"

10.0

Spent a birthday weekend at 20th Century House. It's a carefully and lovingly restored streamline art deco house with themed rooms that shows it off to the full. It's a unique experience to stay here. Kat and Spencer clearly enjoy being hosts and making sure guests enjoy their stays. On the first day, Kat suggested we took advantage of the autumn sunshine by eating our (excellent) breakfast on the balcony of our room, which worked a treat (praise for the coffee too). The next day, we had a surprise birthday theme. We really enjoyed ourselves and hope to stay again in the future.

A good breakfast, freshly cooked. Friendliness of the hosts. Cleanliness of the room. No pet policy was superb. And the decoration added a point of difference and was fun Good location for us

"Could have been better restored and managed."

5.0

Beautiful Art Deco building, restored OK and furnished in sort-of-Art-Deco style. Well positioned, close to the beach and the village.

En-suite bathroom incredibly small, needlessly so. Sink so small as to be almost non-existent (and, not visible in the ad photos). Room was cold, no heating even offered - host came with an extra blanket telling us "it's going to be cold today". Good when you are in bed, but we actually had to wrap ourselves in the blanket to stay in the room and do computer stuff and so on. The worse thing though was the service. People were nice enough, but nothing was provided, you had to ask for everything. Like, you know when you get to your room and you find a welcome tray? Nothing, you have to ask for it and for what you want. Sort of, you gotta figure out whether you will want 2 teabags or 3, 4 or 5 coffees and ask for them, whether you'll want milk, and so on. True, host said they are always there and we could always ask, but come on, I don't favour having to go down every 30 minutes to ask for whatever - let alone if you come home after dinner and find that you need a decaf coffee or some milk. Their excuse? After Covid-19 they decided not to leave anything out. Cool, if a bit forced in 09/2024. And, if you prepare a room from scratch, who else is going to go in and cough over everything before we arrive anyway? Breakfast? Same thing. You know when you come down for breakfast in the morning and find a spread of bread, cereals, fruit, marmalades and jams, croissants and so on? At Twentieth Century B&B, you'll find nothing. You have to ask for everything. Asking for toast, one slice came. You want some more? You have to ask. Again. Granted, the food that came was good, but the hosts' approach and attitude, while it might be perfectly acceptable and even preferred for someone, ruined the whole experience for us.
