Calderfields Golf & Country Club

The cabin was adequately sized, bed was great, the view onto the golf course was amazing

No soap in the shower. The channels of the TV had to be set up manually every time i switched it on. The food was worse than mediocre. I had seabass and paté for dinner - both tasteless, and the breakfast had the worst baked beans and sausages ever. Obviously, the chef is trying to save money on the expense of quality. The coffee was made of cheap instant - not the Nescafé type but the Tesco Essentials type, and they charged £2.75 for a tiny cup of that!!! I find that unacceptable. The WiFi from the main building doesn't reach as far as Cabin 3 where i stayed. I've been to campsites that had better WiFi in the farthest corner.

The staff were really friendly and helpful. The cabin was beautiful and comfortable, set in an idyllic location. The restaurant was clean and the food was very good quality. The portion sizes were very generous. Plenty of free parking available. Tea and coffee facilities are available in the room.

The batteries in the TV remote may have been running out as it didn't seem to be very reactive. And the signal was poor. It would have been nice to have a small fridge in the room, as we had brought some drinks with us for the evening. All these things were very minor and did not affect the stay in any way.

The rooms were large, and clean. The bedding was fresh. We stayed on a Thursday so it was quiet and the cabins overlook the golf course.

For the price I paid I wouldn't complain much about this. But if you have a bad back be warned the bed is soft. Just one thing heating was way too high in the evening and the rooms needed instructions on how to switch off the heating.

We did not use any other facilities at Calderfields as we did not have any hot water for a shower to freshen up.

Complaint regarding our stay at Calderfields accomodation cabin 14 on 9th Oct 2024, no hot water Inbox We would like to draw your attention to our stay at Calderfield golf and country club. My wife and I stayed at Calderfields for one night on 9th Oct 2024 in Cabin 14. This was booked through Booking.com. To our surprise the accommodation had no hot water and there was no soap at the hand wash basin. We informed the Operating Manager, Liam, at reception and he came to check. He acknowledged the electrics tripped everytime he switched on the boiler. He noted a second boiler switch (Switch 2) that had loose wire that was not connected and taped back. At the time Liam told us he could not change our cabin because all the cabins were occupied. He also told us he would send someone to have a look and repair at 7.30 am the next day. We agreed so that we could at least have a shower the next morning. After a while, that evening, Liam returned and asked us to keep the Switch 2 on at all times. We were surprised when he told us that there was a cross connection which would give us hot water the next day. However, he was aware the Switch 2 wire was not connected to the boiler. Next morning at 8 am the housekeeper Tracy came and was astonished to note the hot water boiler was not working and the second connection was disconnected and no one had informed her. She told us to contact reception for the General Manager's details. Please refund our payment in full as the accommodation did not fit the purpose. We did not have hot water throughout our stay at Calderfields hence did not have a good night's rest during our stay. We emailed this complaint to the GM Mr Dan Lowe and asked for a refund and he emailed me back just today that I have to write to Boooking.com to process the refund.

The lady on main reception was welcoming and lovely We were able to walk around the course (respecting players) along the buggy track and it was beautiful a good hours walk Blissfully quiet

We were sent to the battle (music very loud) to collect out key..the young lady that checked us on could not have been any more opposite mumbled, abrupt and unwelcoming I was charged 1p ( for any damaged).and if I wanted it back I.could ask No explanation Had some other guest that woke my partner up at 2am having an argument but otherwise not a noise
