Carters Rest Emma's Self Contained luxury apartment

The location is incredible! Also, the food was the best I had in Scotland. The hosts were so sweet and kind. The entire experience was wonderful.

We had the loveliest stay at Carters Rest & really enjoyed our time there :) The cosiness of the house, coupled with its picturesque views makes it the perfect place to relax. Jonathan & Simone were wonderfully welcoming, treating us to heartfelt breakfast & dinner spreads that were both fresh and delicious, & providing us with suggestions around the island. Thank you so much for your warm hospitality & for the lovely chats, we couldn’t have asked for a better stay :)

We spent 3 nights here with Jon and Simone, and enjoyed coming back at the end of each day's adventures to such a warm, cosy, welcoming and homely spot! The accommodation is better/more impressive than the dwellings' exterior suggests, so dont be put off by the modest look of the home from the outside. The property smells lovely as soon as you step inside, and that's when the lovely features start! We had the accommodation with the separate lounge which we appreciated and used a little bit, but spent more of our relaxing time when not using the bedroom, in the breakfast/dinner room which had imposing views out to the sea. Jon and Simone were friendly, open, knowledgeable, helpful, generous and with wonderful senses of humour. They provided everything you could want for an enjoyable stay! Thanks folks for your generous hospitality

Jonathan and Simone are wonderful hosts and made us feel at home the minute we got there. We were in the Sheep Barn room which was very spacious and had a beautiful view of the Loch and a 500-foot waterfall into the sea. We had all breakfasts and dinners there and each was fantastic. Personally, I think they are secretly Michelin chefs in disguise. I initially had reservations about staying that far out on Skye but in reality it worked out better and I think more convenient. Take some time to get to know the hosts as they both have interesting life stories.

Where do we even begin? Jonathan and Simone are the most welcoming, warm, and hospitable hosts we've ever encountered. Their place feels like a warm hug — cozy, inviting, and full of heart. The views? Absolutely breathtaking. The food? Cooked with love and truly outstanding — don’t miss the lemon cheesecake (or anything else, really). The rooms? Spotlessly clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully maintained. All in all, we had an unforgettable stay and would recommend this place wholeheartedly. Can’t wait to return!
