"Spacious rooms, excellent restaurant."

10.0

The very large room, hot water jug, fridge and bottled water made it comfortable. Plush furniture and decorations made it rather special. We had comfortable, big beds, large and super-clean bathroom and a very fast and cheap laundry service was available. The hotel is on a street full of restaurants and shops and even supermarkets. Some buses and trolleybuses run along it and you can purchase a transport card at the first bus stop to the right of the hotel. It was nice to go for a stroll in a normal town street and observe the life. Once you see the traffic jam in the city centre you appreciate the value of public transport on your doorstep. No, the buses and trolleybuses were not crowded outside the peak hour. The downstairs restaurant was excellent and very popular with locals, who would stop there for a coffee and chat or for dinner. Very sophisticated, extensive menu made it easy for even the most demanding customer. The service was very good and pleasant. The front desk can organise a driver with a car for you, should you need one, and they charge normal city rates for it.

"Central, clean, friendly "

8.0

A good Ulaanbator hotel, situated about a twenty minute walk from the centre. The room was clean and serviceable with a good bathroom and a very cheap mini bar. Clean sheets and towels everyday. Friendly staff and a decent attached Irish bar (UB is full of them). I would stay here again.

"Exactly what was needed"

10.0

I stayed for two nights. The room was very large and had a very comfortable bed. Stocked with a mini-bar, sodas, beer, chips, etc. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting UB.

"Comfortable hotel with personalized service"

8.0

What I like most in this hotel is its personalized service to their guests, from check-In to check-out, they attend to their guests needs (from airport pick up to airport shuttle for departure). They also respond to room request (repairs, additional linens, toiletries) anytime of the day. Rooms are big and comfortable with enough heating yet there is an option to open a window is you need to have fresh air from outside. In Ulaanbaatar (considered as the coldest capital in the world), it is not unusual to experience sudden change of temperature from below zero at night to 18degrees centigrade during the day. Bathrooms are spacious and so are the hallways that is well lighted. Hotel location is outside the usual busy tourist areas yet still walking distance from the Peace Boulevard (Ulaanbaatar's main street). There are many restaurants, supermarkets and department stores nearby. In fact, this hotel have an Irish Pub that serves good food, beer and music. Despite some problems with internet connection while we were there, we observe an earnest effort to restore internet service. This hotel's biggest asset is its personnel and management who despite the language difficulties of most of its staff, caring and gracious service i is provided. Say what you liked best & least

"Water dripping from ceiling"

2.0

We were booked into room 506. The corner of the ceiling in the bedroom was destroyed with damp. Water was dripping from the ceiling onto the floor below and it made a puddle. After complaining we were the booked into room 306. This time the shower was broken. When the shower was turned on water started spurting from the back of the shower unit all over the bathroom.

"ABSOLUTELY EXCELLENT in EVERY WAY!"

10.0

My in-country translator picked the Royal House Hotel for me, as it's in a more residential, less-touristy district while still convenient to downtown, the "Black" market, etc. ...as well as to the "National park", a city park on the outskirts ( about 8 blocks down the street) with carnival games, food and attractions, cheap bicycle rentals ( "Green Bike") and miles of walking paths bustling with Mongolian families out enjoying themselves....WORTH the walk or the US $1.00 cab fare! I was absolutely STUNNED by the victorian 'Grand Hotel' feel upon entering the lobby. Once I got past the beautiful lobby appointments, I dealt with the first of several wonderful, compassionate and FRIENDLY desk staffers. I was hown to my room at once by a very enthusiatic bellstaffer who tried twice to refuse (!) my tip after schlepping my heavy bags up to the room ( FAST elveator, by the way :D ) . The room was spectacular, with a tall, victorian-style wardrobe, matching dressing table and beautiful, HUGE bed, with edwardian art prints adorning the walls and NO foul scents of any kind...the bathroom was SPOTLESSLY CLEAN, and even a very close insection revealed a serious and comprehensive commode to floor scrubbing...with nice wrapped-new swag items provided on the sink shelf: toothbrushes and toothpaste, combs, shower caps, soaps, etc. GREAT water pressure, nice temp with a two minutes' patience. Breakfats was absolutely excellent, I ordered ( by their guest request card) the Omelette with fruit side salad each morning and was pleasantly surprised by the fact that it was ready for me, piping hot, at precisely the time I'd requested, as I entered the "Irish Pub" in the morning. The staff here are nothing short of inspiring: they make a point of remembering guests' names, preferences, etc., and they genuinely do their best to converse in English...I found that learning even a handful of Mongolian words and phrases ( "Hello", "Thank you", etc.) go a LONG way here. The place is pretty quiet, the air is crisp and refreshing in those AC-equipped rooms ( not all rooms are so-equipped) and , still, I cannot say enough about the incredibly nice, sincere and HELPFUL staff here. I wish that I could remember the names of each of them, as all were simply outstanding in their delivery of Customer Service. The staff of the Royal House Hotel could serve as an excellent model of REAL hospitality for other establishments...I look forward to me next vsit with them this coming Spring.

"You get what you pay for"

6.0

This three star hotel in Ulan Bator costs you about US$50 per night and you would feel cheated if you had paid more. I spent four nights here on business, and chose the hotel because it was close to where I was working. But the hotel was very basic and I probably would pick a different hotel if I should find myself back in Mongolia. Staff were friendly enough and most spoke English, but the amenities were basic. But at least there was hot water in the shower, and if you remembered to order your breakfast the night before, you got a reasonable start to the day. The restaurant of the hotel is actually an Irish Pub. There is a building project next door, but as it was still winter weather during my stay, there was no disturbance.
