"Beyond expectations and peaceful place to stay. Everything is so thoughtful here."

Exceptional all around! Food was fresh and thoughtful the room was unreal, and the best customer service. Would recommend everyone to go here and enjoy this desert oasis.

"Relaxing stay exceeding what you expect."

10.0

This is an out of the way Route 66 style hotel with an interior courtyard of grass, trees, pool, jacuzzi, corn-hole, and is about the most relaxing atmosphere around. The room from the views is typically plants or if you upgrade your little patio that is courtyard adjacent. Food is good enough to go to the diner that is part of the hotel out front for every meal for two days (although there is no real competition in this dusty town). It's rural, and that's a little bit the point, its the oasis and a place to relax not compete with the environment. Without driving 40+ minutes, its all hilly nature. There were mostly families staying there and it seemed like everyone loved it. Will stay again.

That I don't own the place.

"Five star weekend "

10.0

The buckhorn is an amazing spot to enjoy some quiet time and relax. The whole place is great and having the restaurant and bar on site make for a really low key stay. We always end up meeting great people and having a blast when we visit. It’s like a little piece of Palm Spring but with a western flair and without all of the heat. The food in the restaurant is absolutely top notch and so is the service. The rooms are well appointed and very clean. We will be back again and again. I would suggest it for anyone. Five stars

Fun experience but overpriced for the location. Spent plenty of money on food and drink in addition to room rate. They should lower the room rate and make it more affordable in shoulder season to attract more business.

"Cute spot, but grossly overpriced and beware of the added fees."

7.0

My husband and I spent two nights here while visiting nearby Carrizo Plain Nat’l Monument. The motel’s grounds are lovely - a beautiful pool, fire pits, bocce ball court, ample outdoor seating, and several water features. The restaurant staff are excellent - particularly Sam the bartender, who’s a great source of local info.

Now for the not so good. With taxes and numerous add on fees (resort fee, processing fee, community impact fee, etc.) our “deluxe queen” room zeroed out at nearly $400/night! At that price, I’d expect something really special. Yes, the decor was cute, but the room was quite small and had a very strong, musty air conditioning smell. We couldn’t open the windows because there were no screens (and this being an agricultural area, lots of bugs). We didn’t get housekeeping service - I think you may have to request it, but no one told us that at check in. The ice maker was broken during our stay. The food at the restaurant was just mediocre (save for the fresh squeezed OJ at breakfast) and the wine list was super pricey, even by hotel standards. Also be warned, the amount we ended up being charged initially just for the room exceeded the amount we were quoted by Booking.com, which was supposed to include all taxes and fees. This is the only decent motel and restaurant for miles and it’s a darling of the Instagram set, so apparently it can command these rates. But when our bill for a two-night stay, including several meals, came in at over a grand, I honestly felt used. Next time we’ll do as our friends did and stay north of the park.

"Stylish property with access to the great outdoors"

9.0

For a stylish boutique hotel, this place has an abundance of activities, from swimming pool to pool table. Top it off with quality restaurant and bar and nice rooms for a great stay

The front desk, restaurant, and bar have limited hours. When I went to the spa the jets didn't work, but the hot water and cold pool were relaxing.

"Interesting for a one-time retro experience in a remote location."

8.0

It was not your cookie cutter motel. They have a vision that they are striving to reach. Not there yet. Friendly staff.

Rooms too small. This is a refurbished 1960s motel. Room was overpriced for the size. Billing nickeled and dimed you: resort fee, convenience fee, extra charge for credit cards in bar. Parking in remote gravel lot. Good food but very limited menu. Not a “resort.”
