The Mansion on 17th

These folks work hard to take care of the customer. That said, I likely would only stay there again if I were living out of a backpack. There is no elevator or lift to provide for getting bags to the room. Parking is on-the-street curbside. There is a couple of steps up from the curb, more steps to the gate, way more steps to the porch, thus luggage of any weight becomes an issue. There is only one room on the lowest floor so the rest of the guest must climb more stairs to get to their room. The facility is nicely done with good attention to the rooms. If I were traveling light luggage-wise, I would not hesitate to stay there. The happy hour, carriage rides, morning breakfast, low parking price during cruise plus shuttle to and from the cruise terminal are all positives. The staff is friendly and helpful. If they solve the luggage issue, it could be a very attractive venue.

We loved the mansion and if we come back to Galveston we will try to book a room again. The breakfast was really good and fresh.

Unique property, older house with upgrades making comfortable

We feel special every time we stay here. The service is excellent. The staff is friendly and helpful. The breakfast is delicious. And the happy hour is fun! We will be back!

This is our second stay at the Mansion on 17th. We plan to return in the fall. The property is a gem and the staff are stellar! We highly rate this wonderful Galveston getaway!
