The Little Tropicana

Location was great. about a 5 min walk to main street of Byron, but tucked away so not noisy.

The coffee machine spurted hot coffee over me, as well as all over the benchtop, floor and walls. When I told the host, they implied that I hadn't made the coffee correctly and didn't offer any solutions for a fix - we then couldn't use the coffee machine for the rest of the stay. When we left a book behind, we asked for it to be posted, which they were happy to do, but at a cost of $60 service fee as well as postage costs which I found excessive. When we first walked into the house, it smelled musty. We had to air out the house on arrival. A bit disappointing that there was no fire pit as per the photos - it was cool at night and would have added to the stay. The lounges are the most uncomfortable I have ever sat on. They seem to be outdoor lounges, not ones to relax on, which was disappointing. When I rang and asked for a late check out, the person told me she can't authorise that but she would get someone to call me back. I'm still waiting! Overall, great location, house is OK but a few improvements needed.

Location and size. Kitchen and outdoor area were lovely. Beautiful position nice quiet neighbourhood and so close to everything. Communication with host was amazing.

No safety rails on stairs. Elderly mother could not navigate stairs as there was nothing to hold onto. This is definitely a safety issue. Lounge was terrible as it was very uncomfortable. Doonas on beds and the spares were very stained with sweat and blood on one of them. Observation- Air conditioner points towards double glass doors instead of into the house. If it was above the doors it would point towards the whole house making it warm.

I was pleasantly surprised with how modern the house was. New photos are definitely needed

Fantastic layout for a big family. Lots of space and room to have time away when we wanted.
