"Loved it!"

Though it was a quick stay, the staff was attentive and offered lots of assistance to navigate around the area. Beautiful hotel, beautiful area.

"Sadly a bit under parr!"

6.0

Selected the hotel for its location and noticed it was closed for renovation pre may, but it seems very little had been done, the staff were friendly but actually were not nesasarily that competent which was a shame. Hotel had the general feel of had had its glory days probably 20 years ago but now was lacking investment in the fabric and qualified staff

"Awesome"

8.0

The Taychreggan Hotel on Loch Awe is awesome. We arrived late after an overnight flight and the staff quickly got us fed and settled in. The Inn was blissfully quiet in a secluded setting. Very restorative.

"Lovely situation and nice views. "

8.0

We enjoyed a lovely night at the hotel, relaxing with a drink in the loch side gardens before having a bar meal. The hotel room was excellent and bed especially comfortable.

"Average Experience for an Above Average Price"

6.0

Average experience overall. The single track public road from which the property is accessed is several miles long and used by locals who drive faster than the road allows really so great care has to be taken. Positives were location, right on the loch side, breakfast menu was reasonably diverse and staff were friendly. Negatives were room, we booked a superior room which was tired - some bathroom floor tiles were loose (junior suites have been refurbished and have loch views), bathroom supplies were not replenished over the three days we were there and we had no shampoo or body wash for our last day, internet is only available in the sitting room and is quite slow.

Beautiful location, wonderful food and super friendly staff. The rooms are quite big. My only recommendation is to update the bathrooms.

"Dress nice, be treated well..."

4.0

Wifi is terrible, only available downstairs. Room service didn't even turn the bed, and the clean towels were left on the cupboard somewhat folded and stacked. The owner and regular guests were stuffy and we felt in the way for having t shirts on. Dinner is only smart casual, as you don't want to ruin other's dining experiences. The radiators hardly get hot, the room has no air circulation and expect to be treated differently based on your apparent social class. My wife and I were wearing casual dress code and were treated inferior to another couple dressed in near formal wear. While I come to expect this at upscale hotels and while in the city, I did not expect this from a country retreat where midges swarm around the property.

"Quiet and secluded"

6.0

Access - practice your reversing as the hotel is at the end of 7.2 miles of a twisting single-track road (with passing places). Hotel condition is good, bedrooms very comfortable, clean, decent size. Our ensuite bathroom was particularly good, very well fitted out.I think we were upgraded as we had a room with a view of the loch, our friends had a standard room with a duller view but its condition was similar to ours and size not much less. We did not pay extra for the upgrade. There is however a lack of staff, friendly but service can be slow, especially evening in bar and restaurant. Bar food is not readily available despite their claims. Dinner is a set menu with little choice, must be selected 24 hours in advance and is £50 per head. The food is probably excellent (looked and smelled ok) but we never took dinner there. Overall ambience quiet and laidback but a bit like Fawlty Towers - although in a good way.
