Everything! Stylish yet cosy, love the conservatory area, comfortable and attractive rooms, beautiful old building, beautiful swimming pool, amazing food, wonderful walks nearby, good range of independent shops, friendly and helpful staff.

Lovely hotel in a lovely town. Beautiful lake next door which was frozen over and very wintery as it also snowed. The staff were amazing - attentive and very friendly and with a sense of humour! Food and wine was very good and reasonably priced (especially when you stay on a DB&B basis). Lots of areas to the hotel so was excellent for us to work from. Everyone lovely to my little dog including the other residents/spq users. I didn't use the spa but others commented how lovely it was. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Thanks everyone at The Spread Eagle. Keep up the good work.

This hotel is a treat. The building is fascinating and historic with all sorts of curiosities on the walls and interesting framed documents / pictures. The bedrooms are extremely cosy and comfortable and the lounge areas were just perfect when we stayed on a snowy January day. Warm open fires in each room, a lovely variety of armchairs or tables and attentive staff made us feel like we didn't want to leave. Three course dinner included in our overnight stay was delicious and the spa was fab. We also took the opportunity for a walk in the surrounding countryside and village on both days. It's well located in the middle of the south downs with beautiful walks all around. Thoroughly recommend.

The spa was really lovely and we were delighted to be able to use it until 1pm on our check out day. The room was cute and cosy and the bed was really comfortable, and the breakfast was tasty with plenty of choice.

Unfortunately the hot tub was closed during our visit and we weren't told in advance, but the rest of the spa made up for it!

Great massage and facial with lovely sweet pool for children. Big room. Nice feeling to the place.

It did feel a little dated and not that clean. Service at breakfast was slow which was a shame as the food was nice but meant we were late for treatment. Waited ages to get a drink at the bar and then there wasn’t anywhere to sit so ended up drinking in the room! Stayed much nicer places for much less money.
