Mdluli Safari Lodge

The tents were beautiful and the pool facilities. All the rangers were amazing and most of the ladies in reception. Bar men were also great!! The views from the reception areas are beautiful.

The service… if you order food to the pool area, they don’t bring cutlery or serviettes. Waiting staff are only eager to close your bill but never attend you. Bring a can of coke with no ice even after asking MANY times. The simple common sense is lacking in many aspects Dinner buffet is then serves again for lunch We had the Boma Dinner twice and EVERYTHING was the same with the exception of lamb chops to pork chops. Around 50% of wines were out of stock For the buffets, many items don’t have labels Housekeeping would miss a couple of things… new roll of toilet paper (ended up using facial tissues the last morning), replacing towels if they were taken, tying up the mosquito net to be similar to the other side. Golf carts to transport guests are falling apart Rather have some for guests and others for daily duties and assisting housekeeping

I loved the location and the calmness of nature

To be honest for me it wasn’t value for money Spent a lot yet the service wasn’t top tier

I requested twin beds for my son & I a few times via message and got acknowledged. On arriving beds weren’t done. Food was so so… Location is inside the park but still have to access permit gate (numbi) everyone you want to access the park which is a 20min drive down a dirt road to get access, so if you’re self driving make sure you have a wild card to get a permit everyday. And best is to get the permit before you leave the hotel at reception. No-one made mention of this. Very poor communication. We stayed 5 nights, staff were not very efficient or friendly, food was ok, there’s no passion or love amongst the staff, attention to detail very poor. Shop assistance helps likes she’s doing you a big favor. I’ve been to many lodges from 5stars in Sabi Sabi, to mediocre lodges. Mdluli has a beautiful lodge and lovely chalets but lack personal attention and there’s no love or passion with any of the staff.

Everything about Mdluli was truly exceptional, from our check in to departure, every detail was handled with the upmost care. All of the staff were very friendly and willing to go out of their way to make our stay truly world class. On our last night we heard about the Mdluli story which made the stay even more remarkable. Cannot wait for our next visit.

I wouldn’t say that there was anything I didn’t like. Just a few things I would personally prefer 1. When guests arrive maybe let them settle in before having to book all the safaris etc. 2. Personally I would love it if someone tidies the room in the morning as opposed to the afternoon, it is nice to come back to a made up room after breakfast and lounging at the pool for a bit. 3. It was extremely hot when we were there, just a suggestion for salads and cold desserts, maybe put it on an ice tray when serving to keep it cool. Other than that, it was fantastic
