Pousada Halai

I picked pousada Halai randomly mainly to escape the Carnaval confusion in Salvador. I was pleasantly surprised by the location, Gamboa, at Morro de São Paulo but very pleased with the Halai pousada. Alllesandra, the proprietor, was extremely congenial, helpful, and efficient as well as her staff. And, the beaches are quite good surrounded by greenery with a quaint village of friendly locals and cantinas.

The beach front bars/restaurants close early; 5 or 6 o'clock. If you're a solo traveler, most of those restaurants cook and charge for two people. Quite inconvenient

This is a true gem, right behind the boardwalk along the beach of Gamboa (which has the best sunsets in the world, btw). The room is spacious, the beds are comfortable, we had a nice veranda with sea view. Alessandra is a very welcoming host who made us feel at home. The breakfast is tasty and abundant. I loved to stay here, it is definitely one of the better options in Gamboa!

The room I stayed in, had a balcony overlooking the palm trees and sea. AMAZING

1st the host Alessandra and her staff 🫶🏾. once booking was confirmed, Alessandra immediately contacted me via WhatsApp to confirm details of the stay, where to go what to do around the island. Breakfast was HONESTLY one of the best part of the stay for me. different every morning and Alessandra will explain everything on the table. OMG it was DELICIOUS. The hotel is clean, comfortable by the sea and because I wanted to relax, it was the BEST place for that. When having breakfast the staff will do a turn down in your room so when you return you have a clean room smelling FRESH. it’s only 10mins from Morro de São Paulo by boat and cost R$5/R$10 by speed boat. For me it was SUPER comfortable hotel to stay.

Pousada incrível. A recepção com Alessandra é maravilhosa, pessoa bacana e super solicita. Ela fala da cidade, dos passeios, restaurantes... café da manhã da pousada uma delícia! Voltarei mais vezes :)
