Tsundara Beach Retreat

The house is in such a tranquil setting - we loved the huge garden and private beach. It was the perfect spot to enjoy sunset, and we took the host's stand up paddle boards out on the water. The kitchen is well equipped, which is great, as there are not too many restaurants in the area and we knew we would be cooking our own dinners. The house itself has plenty of space, and we particularly liked that you could access the bathroom from outside without going through the house - genius when you're coming in from the beach! Susan was very kind and lent us a book about some local history, as well as giving us tips on the local area, restaurants etc.

The breakfast was quite small for us, but I am comparing it to the full Japanese breakfast we had at other accommodation during our stay, and I see from reviews that others loved it.

Tolle Lage mit wunderschönem Strand. Herrlich um ein paar Tage zu entspannen. Super freundliche Vermieter.! ! ! Check in war total unkompliziert. Wir durften die 3 SUP‘s vom Nachbarhaus nutzen. Das war toll. Mietwagen ist notwendig. Kein Supermarkt oder Conbini in der Nähe. Die Küche war relativ gut ausgestattet. Waschmaschine war sehr praktisch .Staubsauger war auch vorhanden .Es gab ausreichend Handtücher . Ein wirklich toller Ort.

Es sind nur ein paar Kleinigkeiten und nichts, was uns von einer weiteren Buchung abhalten würde: -Es gab keine schöne Sonnenliege -es fehlten Kochlöffel für die Pfannen und eine Schere -etwas gestört haben uns die kleinen Ameisen im Badezimmerwaschbecken. Diese kletterten auf Handtücher/Zahnbürsten usw. Es sind nur Kleinigkeiten und nichts weltbewegendes.

ビーチにすぐに行けて、SUPが自由にできるところ。静かでのんびりできます。家具が大きく、まるで外国にきたかのようです。庭が手入れされていて、窓から海が見えて、ロケーションが最高！

コーヒーサーバーや急須などがあったので、豆や茶葉があったら嬉しかったです。調味料ももう少しあると料理がしやすいかと思います。

とにかくプライベートビーチが最高でした！ 写真の庭を進んでいくとビーチなのですが庭にも沢山の植物、カエルにも猫にも会えて歩いているだけで楽しいです！ 外にもシャワーがありすぐ横がお風呂で快適でした。 リビングもキッチンも寝室も広くて日本じゃないみたい！ 掃除機があるのも嬉しいです！洗濯もできて夜は外より脱衣所に干す方がよく乾きました！ SAPも貸していただいて近くにはマングローブもあるので マングローブ探索もして子供たちも大満足です！ ちょっと怖くてすごく楽しかったです！ シュノーケリングで魚も沢山みれました。波がなくて最高です。 無人島にきたような幻想的な時間を家族でおもいっきり楽しみました。本当にありがとうございました！絶対また行きます！

Это чудесная вилла в раю, с гостеприимной хозяйкой Сюзан. Наша семья была очень счастлива эти дни. Комфортабельный, милый, уютный дом, со всеми удобствами, красивая природа и теплое-теплое море с кораллами и рыбками, тепло и забота Сюзан сделали наш отпуск прекрасным.

I wish I could give this a 100/10! We had the best time at Tsundara Beach Retreat, it was one of the main highlights of our month long trip to Japan/Ishigaki. The hosts are amazing! So lovely and accommodating, but also informative about the island and activities nearby, there was also a handy book of all attractions. The use of the kayak was great for us and the private beach was absolutely stunning. The gardens are gorgeous and we felt so at ease here. The location is a little remote compared to the main towns, so I’d recommend hiring a car (we did), this was not a negative though, this was one of the things we loved about the property. The breakfast also needs a special mention as it was amazing and different every morning! The days we went diving we also had it dropped off especially early for us which was great. Thank you thank you thank you! We wish we could’ve stayed for weeks longer. A must stay on Ishigaki island, we will be staying here if we ever come back.

Absolutely nothing.

The hosts made us feel like we were staying with family. They were friendly, communicative and went out of their way to make sure we felt welcome. Breakfast was provided by a local Chef (delivered to the door each morning in a basket) and excellent - often enough left over to serve as lunch as well.

Hosts are great, very helpful in arranging what we needed for our stay. We enjoyed using the kayak and could see some coral reefs not far from shore. We would consider staying here again someday.

It was a mistake to stay here without renting a car (in fairness, the hosts did recommend renting a car when asked about transportation). It is really in the middle of nowhere. Taxis to any restaurant to sample local cuisine or to activities like Kabira Bay, for example, will cost $40-$50 each way and take more than 45 minutes, not to mention needing at least an hour's warning time if leaving from the villa so that the taxi can get there. Taxi apps don't work from the villa, so if you don't speak Japanese / can't make phone calls in Japan, you also have to rely on the hosts to call one for you- adding more time to the process. Overall, you won't be having a relaxed island-vibe vacation if you need to plan your transportation so thoroughly. Rent a car, plan to never leave once you arrive (cooking all your own meals and only doing beach/kayaking at the villa itself), or don't stay here. Also, note that it is not quite as private as it seemed. The main back lawn and the beach are shared with another vacation rental, though it was empty when were there in the December off season, and they are also easily accessible from the host's house right nearby. The hosts could see us from their house when we were outside, for example. From reading the description/reviews I thought it would be more of a truly private experience.
