Best Western Plus Whitewater Inn

This is without a doubt the dirtiest and creepiest hotel I have ever checked into which was surprising given my experience at other Best Western locations and the clean appearance of the photos online. From the moment I checked in, I felt uneasy. I was asked my age and told I looked young; when I questioned this, the front desk attendant became defensive and insisted it was hotel policy. While that may have been true, his tone and behavior left me feeling very uncomfortable. The entire hotel smelled strongly of cigarette smoke, there were strange noises in the hallways, and my room was poorly maintained, with the bed not fully made. I have traveled solo before and never felt unsafe—here, I genuinely did. The environment gave me the unsettling feeling of being in a place where illegal activity might be occurring, and it made me extremely cautious. When I requested a refund and explained I would be staying elsewhere, I was initially refused. It took 20 minutes of arguing with the same attendant, despite my request to speak to a manager, before the refund was processed. I cannot recommend this hotel to anyone, especially solo female travelers. Edit: I understand that asking for ID at check-in is standard practice, but the way the desk attendant handled it was unusual and uncomfortable. Even with my ID in hand, he continued questioning my age and went so far as to ask if I was traveling alone. I work in Human Resources, so I tried to gently share my perspective on how his messaging came across, but he became very defensive. Regardless, the state of the hotel and my room was already concerning enough that I chose to stay elsewhere. I appreciate your serious consideration of my feedback.

Location was convenient, but the room wasn’t clean there was a broken toilet and cockroaches in the fridge. The hospitality was very disappointing.

This was the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. Check-in was extremely slow, and the front desk attendant (I believe his name was Joe) made inappropriate comments about my reservation, stating that I should not use “third-party” booking sites and that I paid more than I would have if I had booked directly with the hotel. Upon arrival, there was a dog swimming in the indoor pool and barking continuously. The hallway smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. Once in the room, the conditions were unacceptable. The toilet flush handle was completely broken. The front desk attempted to replace it but was unsuccessful, leaving the toilet unusable. When I opened the refrigerator, I found dead cockroaches inside. The curtains and bed skirt were heavily wrinkled and stained, and even the walls had visible stains. There were no bath towels provided, nor were there linens for the pullout sofa bed. The bathroom sink was clogged with gray slime, hair, and filth, and I was told maintenance would address it the following day. We left before that occurred. After leaving the hotel, I discovered that the credit card I provided at check-in for a $50 incidental deposit had been charged not only for the room, but for $40 more than my original booking price, plus an additional deposit. When I contacted the hotel, no apology was offered, and they refused to refund the overcharge. I ultimately had to cancel my credit card due to this unauthorized billing. This experience was unsanitary, unprofessional, and financially distressing. I strongly advise others to beware.

The staff was super friendly and very welcoming

Other guests in the motel were very loud in the hallway. We were right next to the elevator , so that made it a little more noisy.

Nothing to like about this nasty cockroach infested hotel. Most disgusting place I’ve ever stayed and charged my credit card twice after checking in.

Broken toilet, clogged bathroom sink, no bath towels, only hand towels, no linens for pullout couch. The hallway stinks of cigarette smoke and there was a dog in the swimming pool. The hotel also charged me twice for the room. This place should be shut down!

It is always a nice and relaxing stay. The beds are comfy. The breakfast is good and nice and hot. The staff is always friendly and accommodating to your needs.
