Fairmont Empress Hotel

so so bad

service, not enough basic need like water botle , no comb, no toothbrush, no aomthing else....

A sadly underwhelming experience . Way above what we can usually afford for a hotel but it was our wedding day so we thought we'd splash out . They sent me an email a week before offering an upgrade but on arrival we didn't get this . Room was half the size we were expecting. The coffee in the room was less than you'd expect in the average motel , & we didn't even get a proper spoon , we now jokingly call a Wooden Stirrer " an Empress Spoon . " Didn't even have bedside chargers on both sides which should be fairly standard these days .

This is a beautiful building, and the flower planting is outstanding in Spring. It is expensive and our room was small but well kept and quiet. All the staff we interacted with were helpful and friendly. We opted for afternoon tea, which was a tad disappointing, because it was noisy in that area- I am comparing it to the Ritz in London, though. The only thing that was odd was breakfast and asking us for a reservation, but I guess that is because people can book from outside.

It was an absolutely amazing experience for our family. The staff were extremely helpful, professional and attentive. A memorable vacation!
