Hilton Alexandria Old Town

I’m in Alexandria for work probably 15 times a year. I’ve always stayed down the street, but Olivia at the front desk here was SOOOO helpful when I needed a room on short notice that this is my new regular place to stay in town.

While the location is central to a walkable neighborhood of Alexandria and the metro station, the hotel itself is not up to par with other modern stays. The desk, cabinets, and nightstands were all covered in dust and marks prior to our stay, including a Duct Taped bottom third of the cabinet drawer that hid our barely functioning mini-fridge. The television and light fixtures are all antiquated: the television is on life support, and the plug-in lamps were all purchased pre-USB-era (be sure you bring your power bricks for all of your charging cables). The shower head has a rotating nozzle selector, and each nozzle is worse than the last as it sprays your eyes before getting your towels wet. The coffee maker is sub par as most hotels opt for Keurig-style one-cup systems. Not Hilton: they opt for a bastardized drip machine that dyes your boiling water a shade of brown only Fracking Runoff could match with not a milligram of caffeine to find. Overall, the best part of our stay at the Alexandria Old Town Hilton was the insulated windows which shielded us from the noises of the passing passenger trains; if only the thin curtains could block the light all the same. If staying in Old Town, there are many superior hotels in walking distance, and they should make up your First-through-Tenth options.

I appreciated our front desk clerk so much. We arrived at the hotel at 10:00 am planning to check in and leave our suitcases with the front desk knowing that we were way too early for check in. Gry checked us in, assigned our double queen bed room, waived the early check in fee and gave us the keys to get in our room! Considering that I had to get up at 3:00 am that morning, it was such a blessing to get to go up to our room and rest until time to go meet our friend for lunch. Above and beyond. Thank you, Gry, and Fatima who was a pleasure to deal with upon check out! I would stay there again!

Very clean and quiet hotel. Tsegereda, the receptionist, is wonderfully warm and friendly.

Front desk staff were professional and courteous.

Room was not clean, had visible cockroaches.

Breakfast was excellent. Location was very convenient, a walking distance to the Old Town and very close to the Metro station to and from DC. We loved the overall experience in the hotel, we have to mention Sammy, the waiter at the restaurant, always kind and attentive.

Perhaps parking price per day was a little bit high.

Great overall service! Front Desk staff Tsigaretta,Olivia, Yeah, Fatima, Grey, & Adam were responsive & helpful with every request. Celeste & Marsha made themselves readily available to provide guidance as needs arose. Manuel & Mohammed's breakfast service was superb. All staff was very friendly & welcoming.

I stayed in the hotel for a few days and my experience was incredible. Specially with the people from the starbucks team. Jess was the barista who take cared of me, she was really kind and professional and she kept a positive attitude the whole time which made me to have a whole good experience.
