The Gold Coast has grown overcrowded and relentlessly busy, saturated with endless diversions and superficial glitz designed to distract the masses. When I lived there in the 1980s, it already felt overwhelming, but four decades later the streets are pure chaos. The same fast‑food chains and liquor outlets reappear on every corner, in every suburb, creating a landscape of repetition. Life has been thoroughly commercialised, leaving little space for authenticity or calm.

It’s quite far from everything.

I stayed at RACV Royal Pines with my elderly parents. The resort was able to cater for all our needs that I requested- adjoining rooms, bathroom with supports for limited mobility. The staff were brilliant in the way they welcomed and supported my parents. We engaged with staff in many areas - Concierge, Reception, Dinner Restaurants, bars and at breakfast, and I couldn't fault them - my sincere thanks for your genuine kindness, attention and support. My parents did not feel like a burden or an inconvenience, which can sometimes happen as their needs increase. Rooms were spacious; food was excellent; breakfast was generous.
