I had booked two nights (Friday and Saturday night) as separate bookings. When I checked in on Friday afternoon, Manny at the front desk had let me know the bookings were linked and that we didn’t need to do anything else before checking out on Sunday. On Saturday, I had a phone call from Elliott asking me to come back to the hotel by 11 o’clock to checkout, collect our belongings and we would have to check back in at 3pm. I explained what Manny had told us and Elliot apologised and stated he could see that the bookings were linked. Saturday night my 7yo daughter and I went to bed and were abruptly awoken around 10pm by a stranger opening our door and entering our room. I immediately alerted them that we were in the room, and without saying anything, they just closed the door and walked away. Both my daughter and I were terrified as it was just us in the room and no one else should have access to the room. After calming my daughter down and settling her back into bed, I called reception and spoke to Manny again. He apologised and said it was a concierge staff member checking to see if the room was being used as we didn’t check back in for the day. I am very upset about this as I was assure on the phone before I made the separate bookings that it would not have been a problem, assure once more at check in by Manny that we did not have to do anything further and that our bookings were linked, and then explained a third time to Elliott the situation. It is not acceptable to have staff members checking rooms at that time of night. This was a very poor ending to our trip and ruined the weekend away.
