The grounds were beautiful. View from the room over the river were lovely. Staff were very friendly. Room was very good.

We found it very difficult to get food. We weren't told at check in that it was advisable to book for dinner. We were unaware that the cafe and bar were linked for food. Food was stopped at 4:30 in the bar. Then we tried the Italian restaurant which was booked out for most of the evening. We asked could we get a pizza in the bar which we were told that the kitchen was to busy. I explained the situation to the bar staff who was very understanding and great to deal with but in the end we had to wait 2 hours for food. The room was only heated by an small oil heater which had a damaged cable. The breakfast selection was very good but the fried breakfast is kept in a hot hold before serving everything was dried out. Not sure if it has changed ownership but it feels it has dramatically gone down hill in the last while and is definitely not what it used to be. Absolute shame as it used to be perfect place for a get away.
