"OK if you don't have a car"

We were meeting up with friends to go for a Tasting menu experience in Alnwick so we picked the White Swan as it was convenient. First impressions! Where is the Car Park? it is at the rear of the hotel but no signage! When we did find our way round to it we found it full with peoples cars who were dining, not staying! so went to the public Car Park (Not cheep if you are staying the night) and a bit of a walk with your luggage. Booked into room 115 (another long walk) but it was to the back overlooking their car park and was nice & quiet ( main road is very noisy so I would not want a room facing that side.) The furnishings and upholstery are tired and the bed bas was torn with constantly being hit with the vacuum cleaner but it was OK for a one night stay. Breakfast was very acceptable with the buffet usual fare, but there was a lack of staff and a long wait to be seated. However the dining room is impressive having been salvaged from a ship related to the Titanic. So would I stay again? only if they guaranteed a parking space for paying guests, with a lot of spaces taken up by their own staff.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Traditional. style hotel with comfortable rooms. Central to the town and walking distance from Alnwick Castle and gardens. An enjoyable visit

"Great value hotel in a fabulous location, super friendly staff, would definitely return"

Plenty of character with great location, perfect for our requirements, breakfast was very good and all of the staff were excellent.

Our room was a bit dated and needed a refurb, bathroom was very tired and would benefit from a full upgrade. Not really a complaint, more an observation, we found our stay to be very good value, but we know they some people would kick up a fuss that everything wasn’t perfect!
