Halekulani - NO RESORT FEE

Many years ago we could only afford to have fabulous Mai Tai's at the House of the Key at the Halekulani and vowed to stay here someday. After years in Maui, made our way back to Oahu and stayed at the venerable Halekulani. The Mai Tais and music were as perfect as ever and our stay was lovely. In the busy, crowded, hub bud of Waikiki, the Halekulani is a quiet, understated but elegant respite from the noise. Amazing staff, every person, and quiet luxury, classic and timeless. It isn't the blingiest hotel and some of the finishes like the cream bathroom tile are a bit dated, but it doesn't matter. The vibe is soothing and calm and lovely. We had an oceanfront room and it is definitely worth it. The sound of the waves from your lanai and view is perfect. The partial ocean view room our family member had, enjoyed a nice lanai, but our full ocean front view room was the choice if you can swing it. Breakfast in the Orchid Lounge was preferable we found to the buffet. Plenty of food and great choices, from the delicious Japanese breakfast with miso black cod, to the perfectly cooked scrambled eggs in the American breakfast. The only thing that missed was a small thing, the gift shop. We went to look for a small gifts to bring back, but poorly stocked, empty shelves and unappealing. It seems like a small thing they could make curated nicely and serve guests and be good for their bottom line. I had a hair spa service and the spa space, while compact, was redone and very nice too. All in all, I can't think of another hotel I'd want to stay at on Oahu, including other big name luxury brands. The Halekulani is worth it, and sign up for their loyalty program too for some helpful extras.

We had a wonderful stay at Halekulani. It’s a beautiful property with wonderful staff. The room was very quiet at night and we really enjoyed drinking our coffee each morning on the balcony with a direct view of Diamond Head. The hotel location is also great. It is within walking distance to shops, restaurants and the beach and most importantly away from high crowds.
