Perfect location for visiting Windsor and Eton

Really good customer service throughout. Safe property. Excellent location. Cooked breakfast was one of the best that I've tasted in a long time.

We had one night here between flights into and out of Heathrow, and chose The Christopher primarily for its location. Which was perfect - an easy walk to a great pub in Eton for a mid-afternoon lunch, then a walk across the footbridge to Windsor for an evening stroll, plus a wander through the Eton campus at the end of the day. Staff was delightful and welcoming, and also very helpful with our luggage. We had a nice, large and very comfortable room. Lots of charm in this historic building!

The staircase was steep, which is typical for this sort of historic property - but definitely had to take care. And SO grateful for help with our suitcases! Not unexpected, and not remotely a deal-breaker, but there was a mild-moderate amount of airplane noise from Heathrow during the evening. Again, older properties are less well insulated that more modern hotels.

Excellence hotel. Throughly enjoyed our stay. A short walk to all the restaurants, bars & trips down the river. Parking was easy. Breakfast was excellent. We attended the St George’s day celebrations for Scouting.

We liked it all.

Spacious immaculate rooms, beautiful setting, delicious breakfast and a warm welcome. Walking distance to Historic Windsor

The crux of any hotel review is the question ‘Would we stay at the hotel again’ and the answer sadly is no. Pros: -Excellent location in Eton with neighbouring Windsor just a short scenic stroll away -On-site paid parking bookable in advance – this is invaluable! -All the staff/management/owners (not sure of their rank!) were very friendly, efficient and welcoming -Complimentary welcome drink of choice on arrival from main bar – lovely touch -Comfortable-ish bed (I liked it -husband didn’t) and very decent towels and bedding -Recently refurbished bathroom with nice toiletries. -Fresh and tasty breakfast. Complimentary water in room. Cons: -They say first impressions are so important, The Christopher doesn’t help itself by not keeping the common areas ‘fresh’. A repaint and spring clean of all common areas is desperately needed as carpets are dirty as is the paintwork! The entry tunnel to parking could do with a powerwash/repaint as it again looks tired/dirty. -No sound insulation between rooms – at midnight we were still hearing all about our neighbour’s evening meal and favourite foods as if they were sat in the room with us! We had to turn the ceiling fan on to drown them out with white noise. Far from ideal. -Window in bedroom wouldn’t open. Room was warm. There is no aircon so ideally they would open for ventilation. Blinds broken and didn’t provide blackout so room was bright as soon as the sun rose. -No view from our deluxe room – but wasn’t expecting one. But we did have a commercial extractor very close which was our early morning wake up call when it was switched on. -Paintwork and carpet in the bedroom needs a refresh/ clean – dirty windows and frames, cobwebs in corners.
